I agree with people who are saying Gotenks would use stupid tactics and antics and fuck up. But he's also like 100x stronger than Tien and Krillin PUT TOGETHER. He could literally just use his stupid ghost move he made and take out like 80% of the field instantly, 1 ghost per person RIP. Then they would do some gloating, defuse on accident and get kicked off by someone who isn't fodder.

People are really underestimating them, at worst they're a SSJ3 Goku. How is that not an improvement over Tien/Krillin.

Yeah, I really wish we could have gotten Goten and Trunks in the tournament. It really makes no sense, both of them fought Majin Buu and are way stronger than Tien/Krillin. With Fusion their stronger than half of the team.

In the anime. In the manga they were intantly defeated by frost.
Frost is stronger than first time frieza because Piccolo was weaker than Frost in the U6 arc.

Goten/Trunks anmoyance is mainly super anime bad writting (and manga kinda as well)
I guess they decided to let let them age even tough 5 years passed for marketing reasons.

With the amount of stupid shit the anime has tossed into the show that the manga just kinda ignored and instead presented something coherant and sensible, I think it is really easy to side with the manga on the topic of "how many people did krillin and Tien eliminate?"

Krillin and Tien doing anything remotely valuable was just fan service. The anime is way worse about this. The manga feels like a much more dignified version of the anime.

You have to give credit to Roshi's short arc, that was amazing both as fan service and a great piece of Anime right there, one of the most powerful couple episodes in Super really Roshi giving it his all.
The manga will really struggle to top that.

The worst thing for me was when 17 was alive, I was super pissed at the writers for undermining the gravity of the episode where he sacrificed himself, and then you'd have the dilemma if you bring back frieza or 17 with super dragonballs (might not be possible with earth ones if 17 actually died in The Void)

It wasn’t really that dramatic. I liked the way they brought him back.

I can imagine gotenks being more fun in the tournament a lot of ways. I think carelessly eliminating a teammate would be the best of those. But the idea of them being on the bench for all these episodes seems like they would be mostly useless as characters.

Although the one way I could see it is selling the underlying theme about U7 being made up of former enemies, and gotenks being the pinnacle of that, considering their genesis, but they weren't really enemies themselves.

Gotenks taunting Toppo and Jiren from the stands after elimination, spanking himself and all the other things he did against Buu, would be 9999999999999x better than Krillin constantly being like "0_0 Goku!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" over and over.

You've convinced me. Charge the writers with the appropriate crimes >.<

Agreed on Roshi too.

I think a few chapters ago Vegeta and a few others were adamant about not letting the kids into the fight. Dad being dad I guess, and I probably wouldn't want my 5y old fighting against a bunch of other warriors (I'm not Goku though).

There’s a great way he could do more harm that good.

I hated this because it violated saiyan philosophy. They send babies to conquer worlds. Vegeta beats the shit out of Trunks. To me, it was borderline dishonorable for Trunks and Goten to not be given the opportunity to fight and die for their universe. Saiyans don't fear death, they fear inaction. It would be proper for Trunks and Goten, even if they were weak, to be given the opportunity to fight. The fact that they are insannnnnnnnnnnnnely strong and would likely wipe out entire universes themselves only makes the situation even harder to swallow.

Vegeta has changed from the past. Sure, he might cling to some of the old philosophy but I doubt that was one of them.

mmmmmm...maybe. But the idea of not letting a saiyan get beat up is really fucking stupid. That is like chichi levels of stupid bullshit. I understand what you are saying, with stuff like "My bulma", but preventing Trunks from fighting for his own survival is many steps further than other glimpses of Vegeta's softer side.

I would say that it would be less like the current Vegeta to put Trunks into a life-or-death situation he wasn't properly perpared for. I could see Cell/Buu Intermission saga Vegeta do that, but not the one in Super. He's just not suited for the task, let's not put him there when inevitably little children in situations like that will fuck up in terrible ways and do more harm than someone who just does nothing and gets knocked out.

The real reason they didn't bring Trunks and Goten is because they would have started playing with the Zenos and they'd have lost interest in the tournament.

The anger that Vegeta felt when Cabba was knocked off. Now imagine that was Trunks. Or Goten. You're telling me you wouldn't want to see that?
