I can't help but feel like they really didn't do Vegito justice here. He fought well and had a few really good lines but they spoiled it with him just suddenly de-fusing with a stupid retcon like that.

The retcon was definitely stupid, but I like that Trunks was the one who save his world. And I didn't see that "spirit bomb" coming.

Seems like a weird/rushed ending to an amazing arc.

Especially the Vegito fight. It's nice and all that Trunks is gonna be the savior since it's his timeline, but... like many people on MAL say that was ridiculous. The power level of Vegito should've been miles ahead of Trunks with energy from an almost empty planet and beaten Vegeta/Goku. Or is there some other monster on earth that I don't know of yet? Anyway better to not care about it I guess. Pretty enjoyable episode even if it indeed felt a little too fast.

I had the same impression. + Show Spoiler + It was actually a small spoiler for me, better animation - probably the final fight.

Final Kamehameha was great though but yeah the retcon is annoying.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say the reason they brought back Vegito was because he's so popular and they could make more money with him.

I like to view Super as their way to try and make amends for some of the dumb shit they did in GT.

I like the fact that he stopped Zamasu himself but seriously, as mentioned before, power levels were ridiculous in this arc. It was acceptable until we had trunks become crazy strong like 5-6 episodes back out of anger (did like it though, the powerup lol) then now, they completely messed up vegito just to have trunks end up. Why not have trunks beat them before they fused, that way it looks less ridiculous?

At one point Black by himself was strong enough to distort time and space with his scythe and take on Goku and Vegeta by himself. Fused Zamasu couldn't even produce an attack strong enough to beat Goku (alone) in a beam struggle. He fights okay-ish against Vegito (after both Vegeta and Goku got senzu'd) but then he has trouble overpowering Trunks. And then Trunks starts somehow collecting the energy of every living being on Earth - which, A. how did he do that? and B. how did he get energy from that Android who probably doesn't even know who he is? Remember in the Buu arc when that was a problem? - and somehow gets an energy ball that size (significantly bigger than what Goku managed to do against the Saiyans on Earth despite actually knowing the technique). With most of humanity dead and few strong fighters around to give bonus energy. So that's just fabulous. And apparently Gowasu is the only Kaioshin in the entire series who has a clue about anything. Maybe he should officially become the Supreme Kai of Exposition in the next Xenoverse game. The bottom line for me is that way too much shit happened in this episode in like 15 minutes. It would have been better if these events had more time and they'd taken away some of the less important parts in the 20 episodes beforehand. This arc had a lot of good stuff but also some really weird shit going on and the ending felt way too rushed.

It's no less unfeasible than unlocking a fifty-fold increase in power from the rage of your childhood best friend dying to an evil all powerful space emperor. The series has been asspull after asspull from the start. reminds me of how mad I got when they made Frieza put up a strong fight against Goku/Vegeta despite the former only training for a year while Goku/Vegeta have been intensely training forever...
