But I do like how they made sure we know that this time its not the Spartans but the Athenians by giving them blue capes instead of red capes. Go team Blue!
I saw plenty of art in that trailer. Art in film happens to encompass more than just a good script....

Saw this today.

I got back from watching it, and I liked it. I liked the first 300 more, but this one is much more story based. I mean, there is still some cool action scenes, of course. I agree that Eva Green was the best part of the movie, but Sullivan Stapleton did a good job, as well. Themistocles is no Leonidas, but I liked that because it showed how different Athenian and Spartan culture is and their upbringing.
The only complaints I had was the CGI in the movie. It wasn't bad, but there are times where it was so noticeable that it might distract you. I don't think it was the budget since this movie had a higher budget than the first 300. What I liked about the visuals is how much different it was to 300. 300 had more of a sand, rough, and hot feel while Rise of an Empire was more calm and soothing. I guess you can say it is due to their red and blue capes respectively, lol.
I am also one of those that supported this movie because I saw it as a parallel/companion movie since it's loosely based off history. I thought they did a nice job showing the before, concurrent, and after within the timeline. I think some will be confused if they are unfamiliar of the history or forgotten the events and dialogue of the first 300.
Spoilers about Eva Green's character

I got bored watching the trailer. Doesn't bode well for the movie.

Spoilers about Eva Green's character + Show Spoiler + I agree with your action part. The first 300 fighting felt more authentic and raw and brutal an you could feel the force of some blows. This movie felt a lot more cgi based but I still really enjoye it it had some great scenes. And wow Eva green is amazing .... Really beautiful
Overall solid action movie I loved it .... But the first was a bit better IMO

I agree Eva Green's tits was the best part of the movie.
Having said that, I'm astonished that they managed to make this movie even less historically accurate than 300. That takes effort.
Movie was fun to watch, but not nearlly as good as 300 imo. Themistocles doesn't have anywhere near the charisma of Leonidas and the fights are a lot more confusing because of the sea aspect. Plus the story is less crisp because they have so much more story to tell. 300 was very nice and confined. Here they are trying to tell us the before, during and after of the original movie, and it gets a little rushed at times imo.

Movie was ok. Weaker in many aspects compared to the first 300.
The best scene was when the woman asked the MC to become her slave/ally while being raped/fucking him. After his refusal, she kicked him out of the ship. Me + friends laughed because it reminded us of an internet meme : DOESN'T MATTER, HAD SEX.

DEM TITIES. Was a really good movie imho, on par with the prequel. Eva Green was really good in so many aspect. Sullivan Stapleton tried his best and was more than OK, but still not as good and badass as Gerard Butler as Leonidas. Fights were really well made, the 3D helped too with some cool effects with the bloods. War Pigs from Black Sabbath in the OST was awesome :D
for me, 8/10. +1 because of Green's tities, so 9/10.

Good movie swords, blood, explosions.
Plus
+ Show Spoiler + Eva Green nude, very nice.

I saw the movie 2 days ago. I really liked it as well. I also dont think it's as good as the 1st one, but I like the way this worked int he universe because of how it was concurrent with the last one for a while.
+ Show Spoiler +Cersei being a warrior was tight, too.
Also yes, Eva Green is very beautiful ><.

The worst movie I´ve watched in cinemas since Komodo. Pretty much everything is terrible.
You have to be either drunk or high to enjoy this piece of shit.

The Greek navy really did wait till sun-down to attack at Thermopylae. The Persians really did bridge the Bosphorus with a huge pontoon bridge. The Greeks really did use mostly Biremes in that era. Athens really was burned to the ground after the Battle of Thermopylae. Also classical naval combat WAS all about ramming and boarding actions.
Sure, Darius didn't die at Marathon in real life, and Artemesia didn't actually exist, but the original made up tons of shit too. In real life, the Oracle was in favor of Leonidas' plan. In real life, there's no evidence Ephialtes existed, let alone that he was some crazy hunchback mutant.
I thought the sex scene was actually the worst part of the movie. It was completely pointless, was the longest scene in the movie up to that point, and just wasted time that could've been better spent on stupidly over-the-top battle scenes. Yeah, her titties were pretty nice, but I'm not gonna pay 12$ for softcore porn when I can get all the porn I want on the internet for free.
