That's nice, but Nietzsche's opinions do not have carte blanche rule over the contours of obscurantism.

No, it is absolutely the case of french writers being asshole-writers. Which makes it all the more maddening that Baudrillard and Foucault pretty much captured the entirety of the twentieth century.

Dont complain about the French, without us you'd be left with philosopher who think all there is to philosophy is to be as clear as possible.
And much worse wine and food, and you might not know it, but you certainly wouldn't want that.

I'd answer that if I knew from which part of Switzerland you were
Also Voltaire is a prick, but a very funny one !
In other news, ordered 15 books (!), and finished Tacitus' Annals. Good book, wish I could read it in Latin though, he was my favourite writer to translate.
Now I'm starting Nausea, which should please farva :p

I quite liked it, but if I understood it right then his conclusion is that we should just endure and do our job and such is life and so. I don't know what to make of it.
The fun thing about the book was how Voltaire comments the surrounding history and bashes his contemporary critics. The end notes of the book say that it was intended against Rousseau and Geneva preachers. Little frenchman's quarrel.

I think the conclusion isn't meant to be serious, and it was also against Leibniz for instance. Also I'm pretty sure Rousseau never was a French citizen :p
Edit : @sam yep, I do need to read this. Alas I think I'd need two months of pretty intensive courses to be able to translate it slowly, painfully, and with a dictionnary.

Yeah, I meant Voltaire with "frenchman".
I always had to translate Seneca in school, I am already a half-stoic.

Let's divide this thread into two kinds of readers:
1. Latin elitist assholes
2. Dan Brown

If I tried to read a real german book with my current level, I have no doubt it would be a painful experience...
