We made a thread specifically for Episode 8 now, let us head over to that one

I liked episode 1, Darth Maul and Qui Gon Gin where perhaps the best Jedi and Sith of the entire series. Why did they have to kill them both in the first episode. Episodes 2 and 3 sucked.

Thought this deserved mention:

Lucas planning on donating almost all of the money (4 billion) to education/charity

Only wish I got is to fire the person responsible for casting Hayden Christsakeson.

And keep Nathalie portman. And create a believable story to bring back Liam neeson. And kill of JarJar. More nathalie portman, and hire Christopher Nolan as the director. If anyone can bring back a dead in the gutter franchise its him.

Oh and hire Clint Mansell for the soundtrack. I would go see that movie.

Eh it be easier for them to get someone like Brad Bird who's worked with pixar and has done good movies. Outside of that i think i'd take Joss Whedon over Christopher Nolan

I don't believe I have never heard of anyone requesting that John Williams be replaced with someone else regarding Star Wars music.

It's some of the most memorable and epic music in movie history IMO.

Natalie Portman sucked in Star Wars. Christopher Nolan doesn't make good movies. John Williams > Clint Mansell for the soundtrack.

Personally, I wish they hired some unknown/up-and-coming actors instead of big names for the movie.

Darth Maul didn't die there.

And what was so great about this character? He had like 2 lines of dialogue, no past (at least not shown in the movie) and very little development. They basically put him in there just to have some form of "epic final boss fight" (which wasn't so epic in the end).
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

Honestly as long as the characters aren't pulling out a Jedi and using SUPER COOL force powers every chance they fucking get I might just like this. I don't know about other people, but at least for me I loved the original Trilogy because it explored the spiritual side of the force and was really a coming of age story of Luke, you got to watch him grow and expand his wisdom and mature. When he first raised that X-Wing out of the swamp, I fucking screamed for joy. Every time a lightsaber was pulled out, it was simply, for a lack of better terms, epic. And that effect was just cheapened when you get 500 jedis all swinging their wubwubsabers and force pushing each other around like ragdolls.

Basically I hope it's more story driven instead of trying to be super flashy. And since Lucas apparently won't have his grubby little hands all over it, it might even have a shot at that.

Whatever they decide to do, I would like to see more of a blur between the light and the dark side. As it is, it's just too black and white. Either you're a good jedi, or you're an evil sith. I would like to see someone walk the line without really falling into either groups. It probably won't happen, but I can dream.

Tron Legacy had the most generic sci-fi plot imaginable. A bad guy that wants to rid of all imperfection and secretly builds an army to invade the world? Oh come on! It's a shame that they wasted such an interesting setting, outstanding special effects & soundtrack, with such a lame story.

It's not going to happen. It's a very important distinction, probably the biggest distinction in the series...you're either good, or you're evil. There is nothing in-between about this. *MAYBE* Han Solo could in-between, but guess what - he helps out the good guys. Lando might be in-between also, but once again - once he was betrayed, he becomes a "good guy".

It also happens to be a very crucial thing that makes it easy for a wide audience to understand, and easy for parents to explain to their kids. The good guy...human, good-looking, blue light saber...the bad guy - red light saber, ugly, etc.

Star Wars isn't about trying to make sense of right or wrong. It's about making choices which drastically swing you towards one side or the other...but the dark side always beckons.

This could be good. It could also be terrible. Can't get much worse than I-II (I actually enjoyed III, don't hit me) so it has a chance.

Han/Greedo shot first. Indeed in the original source material(and IF you possess the correct VHS version), Han shot first.

But in a revision to the movie since, Lucas mucked around with the scene so Greedo indeed fired the first shot, Han's head "dodged"(poorly done too I might add, as that scene was never originally filmed), and shot back in "self-defense".

So who's right and who's wrong? The reality is - it depends on which version of the movie you saw.

But the consensus is - for Han to shoot merely in self-defense because he had no choice, completely changes the viewer's perception of him. Only fighting if necessary.

Versus "bad ass" Han who just doesn't care...which is the man we all wanted in the first place...except for Lucas, who, as the years passed and he got older, had a change of heart regarding the character and wanted things to be more "kid friendly".

For all the hand-wringing regarding passing the IP over to Disney, the next set of series, I feel, needs to be given a fair chance to be made, and then judged based on it's own merits.

IMO what these new set of series NEEDS, is just quite plainly, scenes which give absolutely maximum emotional impact to the viewer. This is much harder to do now given decades of film making.

The scene where Luke Skywalker approaches Vader standing on top. This scene has been copied by just about every entertainment medium you can think of...the intrepid hero, confronting the boss on a podium. It isn't just a mere scene though. Something about this still hits you. You feel Skywalker's dread. This is a final boss moment, and we all felt it in that iconic scene.

If these upcoming series has more unforgettable moments like these...it'll fantastic.

People may not like Disney, but I don't think they can possibly screw up Star Wars worse than Lucas already has. The man is a white version of Tite Kubo.

Only thing I'd be worried about is the video games (like someone stated pages before), but then again... Force Unleashed was god awful and reminiscent of a poorly made Disney game anyway... so whatever.
