Pff. You see that comic a few pages ago? When he's finally unmasked you're going to be in panel one, and we're all going to be in the last panel.
Seriously though. He has a fucking mask. He will be unmasked. Theres no point in having an unmasking if he's unmaksed and its like... "he's... this guy! Who's this guy?"
Here's a point in having a mask. He's the most wanted criminal in Republic City and he got his face horribly mutilated by a fire bender.
This happens every time. People come up with conspiracy theories for everything trying to make sense of things with very little information. Then they get proved wrong and forget it ever happened, then make up more conspiracy theories for the next mystery.
Just look at Naruto. If you're familiar with the story line, TONS of people were speculating Pain/Nagato to be Yondaime Hokage, aka Narutos dad. Why? Because his face is hidden and "His hair looks the same." Turns out he was just a completely new character that was masked in shadow for most of the time. But no one remembered how fucking idiotic they sounded and then people were saying the masked guy who calls himself Tobi is actually Kakashi's childhood friend Obito. Why? Because his face is hidden and "Their names sound similar." No other reason. Lets just all forget that that Obito guy was crushed by a giant rock, his left eye smashed and his right eye gouged out by Kakashi. Yea, hes definitely still alive....People shut up with the whole Obito theory when he said that his name was something else. But then that turned out to be a front and now people are saying the same shit for the exact same retarded reason.
If you guys actually manage to get lucky and guess who Amon really is at this point in the story, its not due to your superior intellect or observational powers. All theories right now are based on very little fact and almost all bullshit.
Seriously though...normally I wouldnt make a post like this, but your whole "Pfffff" attitude is really annoying since there is pretty much no logic or fact behind anyones theories.

What a rant. If he is a character, of course someone will be right. An exhaustive list has been made. Someone even said Amon = Pabu.
Except most people aren't just fucking around. Most theories are based on some logic. That's where they come from. That's why people try to explain them. It's not at all pulling shit out of their asses, although more often than not (becuase they are wrong) somethings are a bit of a stretch.
I like how Taishou put it a few pages ago:
In reality a mask character typically means it is a character everyone is familiar with and seen throughout the show. If Amon was someone totally new there isn’t a need for a mask. If Amon was really burnt by a Fire-Bender showing it would be his shield and proof for all to see. A living, walking, and seen proof of the dangers of benders are better than a mask one. That is why I think it is a lie.
With all that said, I do believe your comments are correct, Amon could be anyone. I feel the fun of having a mystery character is trying to figure out who it is, then when you find out you watch the show again to see the subtle hints throughout the series. That is why I try to figure out. I don’t think it is stupid or pointless in the least. Mysteries have to be solved and I would like to solve it before it is revealed.
The thing is, if he is a character we already know, then it is likely that these subtle hints do exist. If that is the case, then it's practically guaranteed that someone has picked up on them and used them to forumlate their theory, which could be correct. Good luck picking it out from the mass of theories though.
I dunno. For the record I have never speculated (... I think) on who he really is. I'm just bored as fuck and have nothing better to do than to argue with you. =]

Yeah, I suppose so. Its fun to look for the clues I guess and then realize you saw things coming before they did.
I'd totally be cool with that except for inevitable douchebags who come out to say "Omg, it was soooo obvious that he was this guy. Such a bad story and youd have to be an idiot not to have seen that coming." Fact is, they probably had a thousand theories and just happened to have 1 get somewhat close. Pretty much ruins the discussion of any show/storyline and it seems to happen for every show/storyline.
They pilot was an Equalist who dodged them all before Lin was removed.
Additionally, I believe the first deaths were Zhao, who got killed by a fish, and Jet from a rock. Also in the finale from the first series, several war blimps full of Firebenders were sent crashing into the ground. Hama probably killed several people with her bending also.
The pilot dodged them, then the screen went to someone else while Beifong finished her deed in the background.
I think its debatable, but she either made the gundam not controllable or the pilot was history. And by the looks of her attacks, she was going for death blows.
Yeah poor Jet, I just assumed he lived just cause I liked that character :[. As for Hama I believe they saved everyone that was underground, but I suppose she could have killed people... Most deaths in this series are debatable it seems minus the Moon Goddess turning into the moon, if that counts as a death.

Oops, yeah, I did quote the wrong post. LoL. I meant to quote you CE. =)
I feel like some people feel like the writers/creators forgot how cool bending could be. They have been on a time crunch for the whole series. Anytime the fight has been lame, its because of time imo. And the fight was actually put in as a plot advancement rather then something to enjoy. First battle against the chi blockers and probably this battle against the mechs were more then likely meant to show that they are powerful and not easy to defeat. There has been REALLY cool bending in this series. Its basically like a deleted scene they had to cut for time lol.
Like there has been the comparison of the first 7 episodes of LoK and TLA. While yes, LoK is much shorter, it also has progressed 10x faster. Just not the scale of the bending battles lol.
How could it get back on again? I mean they won't be fighting against mechs 24/7. As far as I can see the nonbenders could easily be pwned with stuff like that.
Can't help but agree with all the stuff about everyone's bending apparently being much weaker. I've been rewatching the first show and I've just watched a sequence of a few minutes where earth benders are firing huge missiles at Appa, Aang makes a huge wave of rising stone tiles, Aang and Toph use those tiles to make a giant turtle shell, Toph flattens the stairs of an enormous palace into a slide and then her and Aang make the ground they are standing on slide up it like a lift, Katara and Aang freeze a moat and all told they take out like 50 guys without breaking a sweat.
Cut to Korra flicking rock disks at people and getting dicked on by steampunk ninjas.
Oh and simply put I've been reminded how much better the characters are in the first show. Iroh and Zuko, Appa and Momo, those guys were the business.
hey guys, the level of bending may or may not get stronger as the series progresses, but just remember it's partly just the animation
Which, I think many of you will agree, is better, especially the fight scenes. I prefer this even MORE realistic kind of fighting than in TLA. I remember in TLA, I was impressed how they animated the body, doing real martial arts and such. But it was just flinging stuff around and crazy stuff like The KY said, flattening stairs or shooting huge things around.
Now go to Korra and it's a lot of close-combat fighting, which I think is much more intense. The bending is a lot more modest, so there is no dbz effect (i don't like naruto, but think about naruto in the beginning of the series, like the first 50 or 100 episodes -- the fighting was all pretty realistic, then everyone goes super saiyan later on)
either way though, i'm sure the level of bending will improve

I disagree with this theory because I find it very unlikely that Aang could be heterozygous for bending. If you ignore the justification that all Air Nomads were benders because of their increased spirituality, then it stands to reason that somehow the entire Air tribe must have become homozygous for bending Air. If the recessive gene still existed in the population, I can't imagine that a non-bender was NEVER born.
Also, I don't know it people still think Torlac is Amon, but in he episode where the council decides to continue with the tournament, the next scene is Amon being told by an underling what the council decided. He does not seem to already know this, completely disproving the theory.

Does that mean...the guy who told him (was it the Lieutenant) is someone on the council since he knew immediately? That is if the timeskip between those two scenes was long or not. (Before anyone else could find out)
The only time the bending seemed weak to me was when Katara hit the Equalist lieutenant with fire on the top of the probending arena from the back, and he just got back up... Like I know fire doesn't have mass and he had a suit on and Korra was far away... but Zuko's fire cut through earth crystals in the last episode of the Earth Chapter. The equalist armor is pretty light too. Just a thick layer of cloth.
Everyone else has been doing well enough for what I expect from them. Fights only use as much bending as is needed.
