REALLY? Paul W. S. Failure seems to be writing/directing/producing again. While the first 3 were enjoyable mindless action flicks, #4 was utter shit. It was abysmal. While I might have been looking forward to this mindless trash once upon a time, after #4 and knowing that it's the same guy, I'm holding out minimal hope. I'm blaming his directing for the crap that was #4, he didn't direct 2 or 3. | ||

Very good graphics even today, extremely solid atmosphere, definately the peak of the series. As a RE fan I think the movies are piss-poor, the first one was the best, now things are just WAY out of hand, jsut like the game series in general... (even though 4 & 5 are good action games they shouldnt be titled RE tbfh) | ||

 They are all just fun movies to watch with some buddies and have a good time. Not to mention the fact that the last one was absolutely beautiful in 3D, it did a great job of showing off Sony's 3D technology, and was worth it just for that alone. Plus the soundtrack was awesome in it, the remixed A Perfect Circle song is just straight up amazing! Anyways this new movie should be some good clean fun zombie slaying! :D *Edit* Also, you can't forget about all the beautiful ladies! Wowza! ;D | ||

Honestly though... the story line was just dumb and I feel like they are trying to hard to copy the new Resident Evil video game formulas. Just stick to "The Walking Dead" Philosophy... Post apocalyptic more about survival.. Not some bullshit story line about a bunch of guys in leather jackets trying to do dumb stuff. I miss the days when the zombies were basically brain dead and could just wander around and waddle up to you. I find that a shit load more intriguing for some reason. | ||

When they said the name Leon my heart sank. Not him too The final scene in the movie was by far the best in the whole thing, so sadly i'll have to go see the last movie. + Show Spoiler + Why was Wesker alive again? What happened to Chris Redfield? Why did the t-virus zombies have the mouth worms but the Los Plagas didn't.... Why did the Los Plagas infection turn the mexican chick into a kung fu monster? Why did the Los Plagas Russians attack the Los Plagas mexican chick? Why did the big face licker not kill the little girl? Almost certainly Red Queen didn't directly control the undead. I still don't get Red Queens twisted logic about killing everything. Why is Red Queen in control of ALL of Umbrella? Each base had a different queen (remember White Queen in 3?). Why didn't they just put that little spider mind control thing on Alice whil she was asleep? Leon lost 1v1 with as Los Plagas?! LOL ya right! Alice literally used the same automatic gun for 80% of the movie, which she had no backup clips for, and never once reloaded. Then you have a hundred or so badly done action cliche's. The fact that the Russian army of 100+ couldn't hit 5 guys standing basically out in the open (window was big), yet one of those guys dies to a CHAINSAW. Main character syndrome was in full effect in this game. MIght as well have just cloned 50 Jill Valentines to chase the people because clearly she can't die. In general they also made Umbrella seem too powerful. If you can create that many clones and you're wasting them on zombie simulations, when you have the information from the entire world to look at, you are not smart. Movie would have been less terrible if Wesker himself went to save Alice. I understand why he didn't though. Maybe we'll get to see him kick ass next movie. | ||

The random cameos from video game characters are annoying. That wasn't Leon. Ada looked the part, but that's about it that I could see. What happened to the Redfields? + Show Spoiler + I don't even know if that's the real Jill Valentine - she has those weird looking back connector things on her outfit. I thought the Red Queen was nuked with Racoon City? In any event, that would play hell with any communications links she could use to get out. As for Rain being a bad ass, Rain is in fact a bad ass even if she's cloned. Except for hippy Rain, which was still a good thing to see because Michelle Rodriguez has been playing bad asses for a long damn time and it's nice to see her able to smile and be a hippy. The Los Plagas virus is just silly. Alice's super powers are part of why the series kindof went wtf for me, but giving them back? I liked her better as a normal(ish) person. And ever since that train left in the first movie, they've just gone farther and farther from the video game. It's not quite "Ultraviolet" bad, but it's probably going to hit that level in the next movie. I'm not even sure that's the "original" Alice, given all the cloning going on. But I can be sure of one thing... Milla Jovovich will be naked at some point. | ||

My main problem with this movie is that it takes itself way too serious. I saw Expendables 2 and it was much better, not because of the action but because it had a ton of I have no problem with serious action movies, but this one is really borderline retarded and reaaally needs some other qualities to make up for their lack of story. Also dat nerdrage Also I liked the electroclash sound from part 4 way better than what they did in this part with the music. i.e. Tokio or axeman + Show Spoiler + Which they reused in part 5. Edit: I just saw that both movies' music is from tomandandy. WTF  | ||

Also, the end scene was basicly like a scene they would have in starcraft with Terran versus Zerg it really reminded me so much about starcraft and not resident evil - mostly because that while zombies was still there, there was also these creatures that reminded me of mutalisks :/ | ||

+ Show Spoiler + Michelle Rodrigez is turned into a Las Plagas, which apparently means you learn Kung Fu faster than Neo himself. Something about those palm strikes to the heart was just so incredibly fucking stupid that it was perfect. Even the horrid betrayals toward the original video game become hilarious. Leon is a giant pussy. In trying to Americanize Leon they kind of ruined him, you'd never think he was a total badass. Barry even being alive in anachronistic, but I was happy to see him. He even had a badass revolver, so glad they at least got that right. Jill looks silly as hell all the time, especially in gunfights. Wesker flops hard. Alice is meh, as Resident Evil protagonists go she's alright, it's just everything they tell her to do is not very REish. A lot of the suspense from the games came from how limited everything was. The movies seem unrestricted, which is a strong reason they're so bad, yet manage to entertain. There was never a button for throwing your weapon into the air, doing a crazy looking backflip jack knife kick, catching the weapon in the pose you will kill the zombie in, kill the zombie, and then move to a different pose that incorporates said weapon and transitions to a sweet strut. Ok, maybe some QTE sequence somewhere is like that, but let's not be nit picky. | ||

As it ended I really felt like I was playing some survive the swarm custom game. This franchise has gone in a really strange direction. I watched it yesterday and throughout the film I couldn't stop thinking how desperately bad it was. I literally didn't care about any character other than Alice, there was no story here like in the first few films. There was no sense of danger whatsoever, and some of the action scenes were so ludicrous it made me cringe. It's like a spoof zombie film you were supposed to take seriously. Bizarre. | ||
