She was supposed to be Queen Celestia but Hasbro wanted her to be princess
I was told that because of Disney movies, girls assume that Queens are evil (although I only remember 1 evil queen) and Princesses are good. I was also told that the perceived youth of a Princess is preferable to consumers.
The whole Princess Celestia instead of Queen is some marketing thing but really I don't think it would have mattered either way, but they are the experts I suppose t.t

heh, that post made me smile, congrats on getting one. I'm also considering buying either that or the Rarity one myself as the other toys all look worse (ironically enough, AJ and Rarity are even at the bottom of my list of the mane cast though I still like them a lot); hasbro really needs to release better ones, or, you know, just release plushies
and I agree, they can probably give a great confidence boost and reflect the same optimism as the show itself which is why I want to buy one of them as well. I never felt the need to get any "lucky" objects to have a "mascot" or something before, but coincidentally one of these would also fit that criteria. either way, I'll need to hide it from my dad...
