Oh my god, the new episode was great. So funny, new song is great, really it had everything perfect. Maybe the cringe-inducing lines were a bit TOO cringe inducing, but oh well.
Only problem: It still wasn't a Scootaloo OR a Fluttershy ep. I'm waiting, studio B >:
Also, is it just me, or was it too.... romantic? O.o
One of my new favorites. This was one of those episodes where I laughed almost all the way through, which is rare for me. The song didn't really do it for me; it was decent but any remixes probably won't end up in my music file. I did like how the CMCs figured the lesson out instead of having it spoon-fed to them by an authority figure. And one thing I noticed, as proof of the show's quality and attention to detail: Watch Twilight's shadow in the scene with her and the CMCs. They paid attention to how her shadow moved when she was "off camera", folks. That's just awesome.
I allready like when they took IRL traditions to make a episode based on it (as for Nightmare Night), and to make it even better with all the lore and such. Interesting to see two "brakground" ponies involved in the same episode, moreover in that way. I'm just sad Big Mac haven't a better loving voice, I don't know how this voice is made but it's not suiting him. Also, a lot of epic faces / lines and some fan service too (Troll Pony and the jelly). The song was quite Okay, sweetie bell voice is so good, but the song itself is not epic or involving enough to be usefull. Daniel told at bronycon writers tell them there is a spot for a song, I'm affraid this one wasn't a good one, but the quality is defenitely here.
Anyway, it contains enough epicness to make it a good episode.

I don't see how this episode is any different than cutie pox.
CMC identify problem that isn't really a problem. Try conventional ways that fail. Use magic potion. Potion works too well. Then 10 minutes of increasing ridiculousness until the end of the episode.
It did have a song, but it was probably the weakest song yet. And the love talk got annoying for the viewer at the same time it got annoying for the CMC. I thought it was worse than an episode I didn't like very much to begin with.
It's possible that I read the title in Tychus' voice... >_>
That is a fucking fantastic idea.
One episode I really want to see is a body swap episode, where 2 or maybe all of the mane six swap bodies for maximum hilarity.
I was thinking that too. Another thing, I would love to see more age regression. Would love to see the filly Mane6 interact with the same aged CMC.
That's one of those things I think is really great about the universe the writers are building throughout the series: Magic isn't bound by any known rules, so they can do pretty much whatever they want. Twilight could have a book with a spell that turns back time, one that causes age regression, or one that allows for true Doctor-Who-style time travel, and it could all be equally canonical.
As Scootaloo would say, "The possibilities are, like, endless!" (mocking voice optional).
What about thoughts on the Mare-a-thon itself? I thought the Marathon itself was disappointing due to the lack of the following episodes, Sonic Rainboom, Cutie Mark Chronicles, Sisterhooves Social, Sweet and Elite, and Winter Wrap Up. I thought the Rarity episodes in S2 were rather... well-done and actually engaging. I also thought some of these episodes that premiered in the Marathon were somewhat lacking (Feeling Pinkie Keen, May the Best Pet Win! and Luna Eclipsed... expect to get flamed for the last one though). I find it somewhat frustrating that Hasbro asked for the Top 10, and premiered the top 9. I mean why asked for a 10th choice if you only show 9 out of the 10? Anyways that's my (un)finished thoughts regarding the Mare-a-thon. Also, TL Bronies unite! We have the Scootaloo and oGsMC Burger in McDonald's (Germany)! We're taking over the world starting with restaurant menus!
The episodes with the parentheses are the episodes I disagreed with. I thought the other episodes I listed would have sufficed (The Cutie Mark Chronicles, Sonic Rainboom, Sweet and Elite, Sisterhooves Social and Winter Wrap Up).
The reason why I disagree with these 3 were that I thought they were not up to par with the episodes listed, and that I thought the episodes I listed were the ones that were better in quality and sufficed in their place.
Although there has been a vocal group of people who believe Luna is best Pony.
Yeah, it's very disappointing how none of The Cutie Mark Chronicles, Sonic Rainboom and The Last Round Up ended up being shown. Hearth's Warming Eve and Feeling Pinkie Keen are good but nowhere near top 10 material. The rest are more or less up there, but from that list, only May The Best Pet Win would be in my top 5.

That's ridiculous. It's Rainbow Dash.
You silly goose. It's Fluttershy!
I am still waiting for GaryOak to flip some tables (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Well, the first round of voting closed before even Baby Cakes had aired, so The Last Roundup - however popular - just came along way too late to make it in.
