The episode didn't really do that much damage to the fanon surrounding Luna. All she really did was act about 1000 years out of date. Plenty of fanon remains legit, explained by the fact that this episode helped bring her up to date. Heck, Progress is pretty right on. Her ideals are just out of date by a millennium. Give her time to adjust, and it's back up to fanon as to how she will be.
The one thing that it does destroy are any fics describing Luna's first encounter with society, but that was unavoidable.
Great episode! Definitely not what I think anyone was expecting out of Luna but I overall like what they did with her. Hopefully we'll see more of her in the future? *crosses fingers*
Lol these episodes keep getting better and better.
Really enjoyed this one. But I'm an idiot I mixed up Trixy and Luna and thought Luna was trixy pretending to be luna for the first 15 minutes of the episode.
That's totally Octavia in a scarecrow suit. I didn't think we'd see her again. In all the shots she has the bow playing along the neck of the violin rather than near the bridge, so I guess she's either really bad at violin, or so good that she can play it even in that odd way.
I really liked what they did with Luna, the way she acted caught me quite by surprise thought it was hilarious, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense that she would have difficulty communicating herself to the other ponies, a thousand years is a VERY long time after all, kinda hard to imagine being gone for that length of time. :p
I was a bit sad at the lack of Rarity but that is completely understandable as Tabitha st Germain would of had her hands full with Luna / Zecora and since Luna's voice was quite similar to Raritys in a way putting the two together would have sounded weird.
Though I never liked the little pony with the British accent very much whatever his name was, I hope we don't see too much of that guy, as a kinda Snips and Snails character he would be perfect though
Really fun episode I wonder if we will see any more of Luna as the series progresses.
Spoiler-free thoughts on the episode: Loved it, the new season keeps on going strong. All of my worries concerning the quality of s2 have now dissipated, what was left of them after the other episodes anyways. I hope they have Luna on in some later episodes as well, as she's a pretty fun side character.
Aight so let's post some of your favorite fan art!
Here's a couple Nightmare moon pictures for y'all. The drawing style of these is quite different then the show but they're cool. There's so many talented MLP fans : o

Welp, watched a full episode of this the other morning... It's actually kind of like somewhat older Cartoon Network cartoons, just with Ponies. It's pretty good. =p
Rainbow Dash's Pet = Scoot's episode, 100 percent obvious :-p. No one would masochistically degrade his/herself to that level as scootaloo for RBD... except for maybe Spike for Rarity.
Ok decent episode, the plot hook is great - very plausible, and while fun and lighthearted has it's moral lesson.
But the whole thing is too rushed, there's no build up, just constant action. Feels almost like men took over the series, Faust where art thou?
Random musings:
TS is too bitchy. That should be Rarity. The "new" intro sucks, doesn't even appeal to who dislikes the original. Is that Trixie's fanfare at 13:27? They better bring her back as well. Spike the dragon dragon is brilliant, Chicken Pie is overdone but that one line is fantastic. That random mini pony that looks like a cow is the most hideous thing in the whole series, both in looks and voice.
