Will we ever see zombiecat this season at all? I mean they have all these loose ends and they have to build towards zombiecat with brienne scenes, soooo, not enough time obv for all this.

Tywin and Tyrion should still be the focus next episode like we've been suspecting. I don't see the show focusing on anything else, now that the attack on Castle Black is over and Sansa's storyline has progressed pretty far recently... unless they surprise/troll us with more Arya and leave the good stuff for the beginning of next season. I'm not sure what the show will do about zombie Catelyn, Brienne, and Jaimie. That whole ordeal (just counting what we've read so far in the books) seems too much for the show to swallow. There's the Stannis and Jon at the Wall, the two queens in King Landing, Dany and conflict in Mereen, the turmoil for vengeance in Dorne ... If they exclude Catelyn and change what happends to Brienne and Jaimie - we'll have evidence that zombie Catelyn isn't as relevant that important to the overall story. If not, then more mystery. I'm sure other, less important storylines will be cut to make room, such as the Dornish prince (forget his name) and companions travelling to Slaver's Bay to win over Daenerys (that felt unnecessary even in the books).

Also, I meant if the showrunners exclude Stoneheart entirely, leaving Catelyn's character dead. EDIT Now that I've seen the preview for episode 10, it will cover several storylines. Looks like we will see the beginning of the Stannis' attack on the wilding army and Arya getting closer to leaving Westeros, leaving Tyrion little time to kill Tywin (last five minutes like Oberyn vs Gregor?)

Edit: My guess on the TV adaptation of the scene. Heh, nice call. imo Ygritte's death was the only glaring issue I had with this ep. Too cinematic. The book version was not only more touching but also a bit more believable. == Aside from that I was very satisfied with this one. It's at least on par with "Blackwater". Actually giving Sam some dignity and making Alliser Thorne somewhat likable for once was a very nice addition. The giants and mammoths were fucking awesome as well.

+ Show Spoiler + (spoilered because the freeze frame it shows could be considered spoilerish as a change from the books) Based on the preview - + Show Spoiler + It looks like the people thinking the hound will fight brienne (or at least meet her) were right - there's a shot of her distinctive blue armor that Jaime gave her out of focus when the Hound steps forth. It looks like Stannis arrives (where else are there going to be men on horseback in a snowy forest?. We'll get everything from Tyrion, dunno about his conversation with Jaime. Cersei seems to be going a little more nutso, but on Tywin so... anyways. Bran + co make it to a tree. I've read speculation that if LS isn't the final scene in the season then Dany chaining the dragons probably will be.

Yea but we saw that coming didn't we? Shae's death is also probably going to be more cinematic, than it was in the books. They played up Jon and Ygritte's relationship very heavily in the show, which we knew they were going to do the moment we realized the girl that was cast as Ygritte was way hotter than she was supposed to be based on her book description.

Points for doing Ygritte's death well, doing some good things with Sam, and semi salvaging their stupid version of Alliser. This version of why Jon is going out to kill Mance solo is ridiculous. I'd think Sam could have called him on that, and the newly hardened Sam of the show would have. Jon even asked him for a better idea. I'd think he could have mumbled some gibberish and it would have been a satisfactory answer. He doesn't even have a sword now and he isn't bringing Ghost? I suppose a sword will appear in his hands later if the plot calls for him to have one. How exactly did the NW win on the ground? It didn't seem to be adding up in their favor but then they just did. I suppose Grenn and Pyp are the extra deaths they have been hinting at? It seems underwhelming. Grenn had already looked like their Noye merge, so that wasn't even so much of a change. I had been thinking they might kill Jorah instead of exiling him when they first started making those teases, or part of Tormund's new job would include dying like book-Styr did. Worst episode 9 to date, by far. Each of the others was a highlight. This was below the overall average. ep10 preview: + Show Spoiler + Whoever first called that Brienne would fight Sandor gets a point. It'll be interesting how they fit that in while squaring everything away so that the characters can get on their book 4 trajectories. I could see it working maybe, but it still seems iffy to me. I'd rather it not be the case.

Pyp's death and Grenn's death are saddening, but it also feels like they reached the end of their arcs. Even if they are still alive in the books, I think it suits the show fine. The episode was very nicely done. Very well directed. It seems Neil Marshall directed the ep. I'm impressed. In another context, the scenes between Sam and Gilly would have been entirely too cheesy, but here, with the possible impending death and the general sense of doom the episode is filled with, I think it works. I really loved the ambiance, you could feel that if they did break through, the realm would be in a world of troubles. If they can make you (well, at least me..) feel that way when it's just the wildlings, imagine how it'll be when the Others breach the Wall! A few minor things were a bit unsatisfying. The biggest nitpick I have is Jon's fight with the Thenn. There's a clear pattern to Jon fighting "big" villains now: fight begins in a showdown sort of way, they go at it, Jon's opponent gets the upper hand, then Jon pulls a twist or is saved out of nowhere. I wish we could have such a fight where Jon would prevail in a "clean" manner, as in a regular one on one combat where he just mortally slashes his foe. Other than that... Great episode, really. Ygritte's death made me so sad, too. The shot of Jon craddling Ygritte as the fight rages on was beautiful. Out of place, but in a voluntary and very fitting sort of way. Love ends as the battle goes on. I liked it.
