So Stannis's nothern campaign will make a lot more sense in the show.

If they fuck up Stannis' moment of glory I'm going to be so upset. It won't save his character this far in but give the man his due...

I can see Stannis getting a good scene or two during the battle on the wall, and then be the one who puts Thorne and Slynt in their place after the battle and supports Jon to become the new commander. It would definitly make sense, aswell as earn sympathy from the viewers. Hes the one who said "Hard truths cut both ways" and that has certainly been one of Jons stories in this season.

Hey guys, guess what?
ASOIAF parallels history in delightfully interesting ways.

Anyone wanna bet that someone is gonna say GRRM ripped off LoTR when they see the Mammoths?

IMO that's a big part of their whole relationship. Yes, but long ago and I think most viewers have forgotten it. Discussed it with someone else and we both expect them to repeat it when Jaime frees Tyrion (assuming its Jaime who frees him) so people understand it better. We're also hoping for a "Wherever whores go" but we expect its not gonna be there I think it will be enough for them to show the scene with Bronn/Shae in the pre-episode recap and then have Jaime confess when he is freeing Tyrion.
Oh man, I had forgotten about that. When Tyrion learned his wife had been true to him and his family took his happiness.
I may just tune in to see Tywin get his overdue come-uppance. And I do hope that Tyrion uses the "does not shit gold" line.

The creator of High Valyrian as used in the TV series, David Peterson, actually translated this exact sentence on twitter. It is supposed to be: "Kēlir morghulis"
Chicken on the other hand is not on the Tongues of Ice and Fire Wiki High Valyrian Vocabulary so I don't suppose there has been an official translation of chicken into High Valyrian. You could say "Honter morghulis" though which would be the broader statement "All birds must die".
EDIT: Corrected grammar of second High Valyrian sentence. I mistakenly wrote the translation of "Birds must die"

Holy crap NOOOOO. thanks anyway. good thing i did not read the previous reply.

Technically they say Stannis wants to go north at the end of season 3, don't they? On another forum where they hate spoilers a whole lot, they are just treating this information as a known fact.

Is that real? All the swearing makes it seem so unlikely.

the point still stands tho, and it's something alot of people seem to miss. Ned and especially Oberyn are there to spur others into action after their deaths and cause actions that otherwise wouldn't occur. Tywin wouldn't be dead if Oberyn had won (or at least not killed by Tyrion) and the whole northern rebellion might not have happened if Ned had been pardonned and sent to the Wall... And some characters such as Joffrey just had to die
