Here is the summary from westeros.org about the book to screen adaptation on that part, and a link to the full chapter summary from Tower of the hand:
Tyrion IX - Tower of the Hand Summary Westeros.org Book to Screen Tyrion IX: Two significant portions of this chapter appear on screen. The meeting with Bronn runs largely as in the novel, although Lollys Stokeworth is a somewhat more notable character in the book due to her having been raped during the riot in A Clash of Kings and pregnant with a bastard. Moreover, it is her mother, Lady Tanda, who rules, rather than her father (yet another example of the writers changing ruling ladies into ruling lords). Bronn’s quip regarding Lollys’s older sister Falyse dying by falling off her horse is obviously inspired by the fact that Bronn arranges for such a fall for the aged Lady Tanda, which leads to her eventual death. As in the novels, Bronn is willing to consider fighting Gregor Clegane—as Tyrion is already considering a trial by combat at this point, despite the second day of testimony not being begun—and offers a similar notion of the strategy he uses. But Tyrion cannot beat Cersei’s price, and the two part ways, much as shown. The other significant scene is Oberyn Martell’s discussion of his first meeting with Tyrion, in which many of the details are per the novel. However, again, in the novels Oberyn and Elia are said to travel to Casterly Rock with their mother, who was the ruling Princess of Dorne, rather than their father as claimed on the show. Other than that detail, Oberyn’s offer to champion Tyrion is very much motivated with the exact same reasoning in the novel: he wants a chance to avenge the deaths of Elia and her children by killing Gregor Clegane.

It was comically actually, they said him up with this grand master plan for 2 books and then he finally arrives, and Dany is like "uhm .. no?" and he gets himself toasted. So pointless.
Dude, he's the sun that rises in the west and sets in the east. Possibly the most important arc.

Dude, you just blew my mind, what other Quarth prophecies have been fulfilled and what are we still waiting for?

"When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east," said Mirri Maz Duur. "When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before."
Many people have thought on this. The ASoIaF forum is full of readers theorizing about it. I too recently saw someone (on Westeros.org, the said ASoIaF forum) point out that Quentyn could be the sun that rises in the west and sets in the east. It actually makes so much sense it justifies his being a POV entirely.
The rest though... I think many people think the mountain bit is tied to Clegane, but off the top of my head, I can't really see anything. Those discussions are always interesting though, much like discussing characters' dreams, and Dany's visions in the House of the Undying.

The mountains are literally the mountains. I don't have the book with me but there is a passage at the end of ADWD where Dany is looking at the horizon and due to the excessive heat in the desert the mountains have that light refraction effect going on where they look like they're swaying in the wind. She's getting her period at the time as well for the first time since the stillbirth.

"Then he will return, and not before" is about drogo right? Dany just walked into a khal who was a ko in Drogo's army, could be he's like the next Drogo

Dany just walked into a khal who was a ko in Drogo's army, could be he's like the next Drogo The blood witch's prophecy is not about Drogo coming back to life, it's about curing his persistent vegetative state. The mercy killing comes after Dany hears this. If the signs are coming to pass, it's more likely that Dany will go violently insane with regret and less likely that Drogo crawls out of his grave in the name of love. It all looks a bit thin to me, but GRRM does love misunderstood prophecies that cause characters to make catastrophic choices. It doesn't have to be magic or even true, it just has to be something Daenerys is led to believe -- would Tyrion go that far? Quaithe?

Same thing happened to me today. Couldn't look her in the eyes when she was like "WOOOOOOOHOOOOOO" after the scene. Fun story: She was on a train and got spoiled about Tywins death while peeking at a page of AFFC, so now she believes that Oberyn wins and also gets revenge on the old man. It's gonna be a fun day.
The episodes gonna give us 20+ pages of rage.

Watch someone "call" Tyrion's escape and Tywin's death, then claim to have not read the books. I pity those mods.
|
I really doubt anyone would be that stupid.
Nobody would call it. Nobody. If anyone does, you can be 500% sure they are a book reader. Too many factors into play... Oberyn losing the trial, Jaime freeing Tyrion, Varys showing Tyrion the hidden passages, etc...
Not possible. Though it'll be hilarious if it happens.
|
Actually a smart way to introduce to Dorne... Now the watcher will be starving to know what they couldn't with the viper. And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you, from house Martell, the strong, the brave, the cunning Quentin!

"One shadow was dark as ash, with the terrible face of a hound. Another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful. Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood"
How about that one? One of Bran's visions in AGOT I believe. Many connected it to the Hound, Oberyn/Jaime and Clegane as Robert Strong.
There are just so many of these throughout the books... It's amazing hehe

The trial of Tyrion is the ultimate red herring! People are focusing so hard on why he can't die, why he has a plot armor large as a pig... That they forget that all men dies :D.
Anyone has an idea what Varys was doing back at King's landing ? Hahah would be the greatest wtf if Varys turns out to be a Unsullied that has secret commando powers and everything.

I loved the scene between Tyrion and Bronn though, almost made me shed some manly tears. Anyone with me on that opinion?

Since this is the book thread - he's the one who organized the wedding between Drogo and Daenery, also the one who puts up Aegon.. another thing, what about that "Aegon is not the real Aegon" thingy?

I actually didn't like the scene cause imo tyrion should question bron a lot more (bron said shae is gone) Imo that scene made very little sence with that context in mind.
Aegon = (f)Aegon, i totally believe that, but tbh it could go either way.

I dont buy the Faegon theory. Jon Connington was literary in love with Rhaegar, he would never disown himself by crowning a Blackfyre pretender as the Heir to his "Silver Prince".
|
Maybe that is the exact reason he is being manipulated into thinking it is the real Aegon. He will do anything to put him on the throne and is the perfect guy to go around claiming Aegon is here. Who is going to doubt one of Rhaegars closest friends?
Of course it could go either way with this

I dont remember the exact details, but didnt Griff practicly raise Aegon from infancy, from the moment the Prince was smuggled out of kings landing until now?
Being one of Rhaegars closest friends, he would obviously be able to tell the real boy from a fake... Babies dont all look alike.

Well there are people who saw aegon's head smashed in too. Its not totally out of the question that Jon is blinded by his love for Rhaegar too and simply believes it because of his overwhelming guilt. I forget how he came to be with Jon but I think it had something to do with Varys so anything is fair game with that man.
As I said it could go either way
