It's just fail logic to condense the episode. At least the people who haven't read the books aren't aware how nonsensical this is.
I'm skeptical but it has to be allowed to unfold before we can know.
I will say there was way too much JRR feel in this episode. Needs more GRR. It didn't go out and break rules like 3.6 did, but it still came across as a very weak episode all around.

That is getting into D&D alternate version/fan fiction territory. They probably borrowed the term without linkage of the existing meaning just as a label for a/the lead white walker. GRRM's night king was a single specific person and not one of the others.

But the GRRM Night's King married an Other, or female that matched their description. It's quite possible that the Night's King was turned into some sort of monster, especially since he married the only female Other we have heard of. It could even be that the Night's Queen is the Great Other.
So if I was counting correctly, the only scenes from today's episode that ACTUALLY happened in the books was the Oathkeeper scene, Tyrion/Jaime, Mereen's liberation (with a ton of shit removed) and Sansa's voyage.
Everything else including everything with the Night's Watch is new.
What the fuck? They're COMPLETELY rewriting the Night's Watch plot line and they might even have the two story arcs (Brann's) crossover.
It's probably just a way to keep the pacing better for tv. I don't know if you guys recall, but the bran arc is so slow and uneventful, and viewers already need to put up with dany.
They will write around Jon meeting bran (read: they won't meet, something will happen to advance the plot) and then we'll be safely in the buildup to the climax at kings landing and end of the season.
BUT what really bugged me about this episode was the little finger scene. Part of the fun of the writing is that you have to think a bit. Hitting us over the head repeatedly with "LOL I KILLED JOFFREY" and "REMEMBER THAT NECKLACE poison!!"...
It's not needed. It's already strongly implied. We all know little finger and the old cunt are up to no good. It doesn't need to be spoon fed.

Book-LF tells Sansa everything at some point.
Also, I think it's THE Nights King considering D&D know the big plot points of the show. ALso cause there were 13 Others around him when he started walking toward the camera, I think. IIRC, THE Night's King was like the 13th Lord Commander who reigned for 13 years and stuff. But yeah. I guess it COULD be their current king.

At this point the readers already know the deal it's simply the viewers who need to now be informed.
It makes sense for them to go ahead and clarify who is actually responsible for Joffrey's assassination since the plot of King's Landing will be very difficult to follow with the kind of crazy theories show watchers have been coming up with.
I forget, why is Jojen sick as fuqq again? Convulsing and throwing up holy shit.
No idea where they are going with Jon/Bran/Locke now. Guess let them all meet up, and have at it.
edit: Also, I'm slightly bothered Show Marg didn't even now her Grandmother poisoned Joff's wine cup. What if Marg decided to take a sip? I swear I remember in books, it's thinly implied that Marg knew what was going on.
I know that it's cleared up eventually, but part of the fun of reading that book was not knowing. That same feeling can happen on television and work effectively.
I don't see how knowing who killed Joffrey will do anything to help people follow the conclusion. It's pretty straight forward from here.
Edit: and it really isn't spelled out until WAY later. I remember reading the books and actually not being sure if Tyrion was innocent. This made his spiral in to madness a lot more intriguing and it made the curveball at the end a lot more impactfull.
Edit 2: crazy theories are a GOOD THING. It means the show is making people speculate and think and use their imaginations. Isn't that a wonderful thing? We don't need everything spelled out immediately. We have shows on AMC for that.

In an earlier season Meera explains that Jojen basically has a seizure during his visions, has him bite down on some leather strap so he won't swallow his tongue or bite through it (Meera doesn't explain that that's why she's putting a leather strap in his mouth but it's pretty standard practice I think). Don't think that's in the books though. Also no explanation why Bran doesn't suffer from it.

Thank you <3
I think its kinda funny that the other thread totally has turned into another GoT type scenario. Everybody suspects everybody of being a book reader, theres 0 trust, and everyone hates everybody and everything
It's all coming together now. The levitation. The eeeeevil book reading. You're a damn witch.

Plot armor.
But yeah, I was scratching my head about that one, too. Obviously he's gonna reunite with Jon in the next episode or two, but I don't see any reason at all why they would keep the wolf alive while at the same time talking about having too many mouths to feed all the time.

whats gonna happen next: coldhands is gonna show up and kill the remaining nights watch deserters at crasters keep. after that he takes in brann and the others, setting them on the right path of the story. jon and his party arrive afterwards and find all dead and no trace of brann and his party. because he doesnt merge his spirit with ghost, who has seen everything, he doesnt know about brann.
only question is whats gonna happen to crasters wives, they cant possibly shut up about coldhands/brann

You mean by what Gilly said to Sam? I think it's mostly dismissed as just her superstitious ramblings.
Also, certainly there's no implication in the books that the Others are well organized, hierarchical and live in what looks to be an ice fortress deep in the mountains.

Coldhands is not in this season. So I guess that won't happen.
We'll probably see a Bran + Jon reunion. The spoiler for us is that now we know Jon's knowledge of Bran being alive is not hugely important.
