It's becoming increasingly obvious that Dany can't really control them herself, right? Until the reversal right at the end. The final Dany chapter in DwD is a pretty huge course correction on Dany's part, and what exactly she is headed towards now is pretty high on the list of objects sorted by immediate importance*uncertainty. One of the things we can safely take from it is that she does now have some control of the dragon who had previously been uncontrolled.

LittleFinger right? was he just following orders or did he purposely build up the debt (guess this might be a book spoiler)? before Tyrion got locked up, was he still in charge of the Treasury? Is kind of an interesting theory. Littlefinger looks out for himself only, but could it be possible that he was racking up the debt as part of a plan? I actually like this idea, that this aspect of his long game hasn't been revealed yet. As far as I know, this never came up in the books.

From the other thread. Has Jaime mentioned his desire to "save" Sansa at all in the show? It hasn't been mentioned yet, right? Except Catelyn's trading of him, but even that hasn't been brought up since the beginning of S4. I may be paranoid, but that seems like a book reader's post to me.

It was between Brienne and Jaime, they were talking about keeping Arya/Sansa safe etc.

He argues a lot about it with Brienne, but he certainly doesn't seem keen about the idea of protecting her. Still seems sketchy.

Robert surely did the same thing several time but noone cares he was a "serial rapist". It just wasnt thrown at your face like Jaime's.

As far as I know, this never came up in the books. it was written that every time the crown would need dough, LF would rub 2 coins togheter and make the gold appear out of thin air or something like that. nobody really knew where the money came from but they were happy to spend it so nobody asked I guess.

Show watchers all, understandably, think Jaime is a rapist now; but, based the director and actor interviews, they didn't intend for that piece to be a departure from the books. If they just carry on with a story that assumes Jaime did not rape Cersei that will rather fuck things up for those characters. Hopefully, the next episode will have a scene clarifying this somehow (Cersei implying that she liked it or whatever), and all will be forgotten.

In the books it says that the crown had low/no funds before Robert even died. After that there was a war. The entire economy of GOT/Westeros doesn't make a ton of sense without additional details. They do point out regularly that during the war much of the agricultural capacity has been destroyed directly or through conscription of all the healthy males.
