SPOILER WARNING If you only watch the show, this thread will spoil you of future events in HBO's Game of Thrones. Thread contains discussion of all books of the series A Song of Ice and FireClick Here for the spoiler-free thread. |
I don't think I could ever hold that point of view. Wanting something faster rather than wanting it to be good is a mindfuck to me.
WoW - 2018, DoS - 2025. Half-Life 3 - 2033. Woohoo!

I imagined them as some snowy, icy, gracious creatures with armor. The dead horse also looked just the way i think it should look. A definite improvement from their previous appearances tbh.
Can anyone tell the armor the other is wearing while he rides? I think there might be a clue there, it looks familiar and you can spot a symbol on his chest.
On the appearance, I don't think they look meaningfully different from before. Wearing a lot more rags, sure, but still the same idea. Maybe you are thinking of the descriptions in the books? In the books they are Lich King, in the show they are Zeratul on Ice.

Also AFFuckingC.
All I want now is for show watchers to suffer the Dany arc.

The night king appearance can also be a hint of the next books content since it might be released soon.

Anyways, I can now make liberal use of ser pounce jokes memes truths.

DID WE JUST GET SPOILERED BY THE TV SHOW???
Seriously, wtf... I am not very fond of the show changing some smaller things from the books, but getting book spoilers from the tv show is fucking ridiculous.
Please someone tell me I am just not remembering the books very well and the baby+white-walker-lord-guy was in the books.

That was probably the prologue from TWOW.

I honestly don't think the ending (strictly the reveal of Night's King) is such a big deal lol.
It's been subtly implied, and makes sense I guess.

Coldhands was theorised to be the Night King. Was once a member of the watch, is older than the old child of the forest, "your monster, Brandon Stark" and so forth.

All talk of White Walkers aside, I'm starting to get the feeling that the show is deliberately rushing past most of Dany's...complications.
They certainly had enough screentime to show how the evil, evil Thenns massacred/ate hamlets and mutineers drink wine from Mormont's skull while raping people. But the looting, pillaging, raping, and murder that happened for days after the siege of Mereen was omitted, even though it's plot-critical to the nature of the book-spanning insurgency against her.
Even the crucifixion of the 163 Masters was covered in brief, with Dany giving a one-liner to voice her thoughts on the matter.
....actually, I believe they even omitted Dany's "kill everyone above the age of 12 wearing a tokar or holding a whip" thing way back from Astapor. Show Dany may walk on water yet this season.

You do realize the last season of this show, at the least, will be covering all unwritten material, yes? edit: this is why I'm glad they gave us a morsel of this. There is a truckload to come.
Show is getting done halfway through the story before GRRM finishes one book -- get used to the idea that the story is no longer all going to come strictly from the books first. How much the show and books end up diverging may be a different matter, but I think it's a really safe bet that much of the story is going to concluded -- and many secrets revealed -- on TV before the books.
I think it's interesting. Something kind of new. I get that it offends people that literature of such length and depth is being so closely developed with a TV series... but at the same time, it's not impacting the novels. GRRM is still going to do his thing.
HBO couldn't exactly wait for GRRM to finish the novels before electing to adapt his series, because GRRM was shopping the series (or movies, which wouldve been awful) to other networks. He wasn't pulled into this "predicament", he initiated it.

this is such sweet karmic retribution for all the book readers who spoiled stuff and talked about the series like they were better than show watchers, every fking episode will have some random spoilers for shit now and itll be confusing as fuck because you're not even sure if its legit or not. its only gonna get worse too in seasons 5 6 7.
like them showing ser pounce in that margaery tommen scene makes me think arya will kill him with the dog madness substance jaquen used to kill weese in the books. that long look from barristan as dany crucifies the masters makes me think she will eventually go mad in the books. etc.
TWOW pleaseeee

I mean when will it end?! I might not even buy the next book at this point. I was really looking forward to the Ser Pounce storyline.

I am only sad about this reveal because it destroys my theory that Melissandre and Stannis will play a part in downfall of the Wall and what happens afterwards when the Others go south. My theory is that Melissandre is going to cause the Wall to collapse and Stannis would become the leader of the Others.

I know it wasn't spelled out in the books but to me the white walker scene was no surprise whatsoever. What else would be so important to the Others that they leave Craster alone for it? Human babies tasty snack?

Or Craster has some king blood from way back and his babies blood was good for their magic.

Benjen stark is the new Night's King is my cracked-pot theory after watching that episode! The original Night's King was a Stark but was beheaded and now we see an Other with a crown who is referred to seemingly accidentally as the Night's King, can't be the same one (unless his execution was a lie).

You think Arya will kill Tommen? I definitely don't see that. There are links between them with Arya chasing the one eyed cat which is probably the same cat that bother Tommen in ADwD, but I don't see Arya wanting to kill him.

I really think it is an absurd to have the series spoil the books. No offense to those who preffer the TV show, but to me the books are much deeper and much more enjoyable, since nothing is rushed, we get more details and inside each characters head.
Now I'm not sure if I should keep watching or if I just wait yet another year for the release of the book. Even not watching the show the chances I'm going to get spoiled by the Internet, be it on 9gag or some random dude joke on some random blog/site/forum post/comics is so high that one might become paranoid.
I've never spoiled the show to anyone anywhere, even refused to hint anything to my friends who came over asking stuff... I feel kind of betrayed now. I know that in the last episode the spoiler was minimal, as many said it was hinted in the books, but this opens a precedent for future events, and the longer the show goes, the higher are the chances we will get major spoilers that might ruin the book series...
What do I do
