Wasn't that ladder speech straight from the books? I don't remember if he had it with Varys or someone else though.

Massive change this time with the Gendry storyline - love it.

These Theon scenes are seriously disturbing. I'm getting queasy.

I was pretty shocked they got that graphic about the Theon scenes, but I'm glad as it's an important part of the books I think to show just how much shit he goes through.

Charles Dance is killing it every episode - haunting.

the show was great today "a sword swallower through and through" made me roflcopter

Ya me too. Especially considering preview for next episode Ramsay holds a knife and is aiming for Theon's....... lower region, safe to say its gonna get really ugly really quick. Pretty sure during Theon's as Reek POV's, he hinted that he got his balls chopped off, but not stated.
The gears are in motion gentleman.
BTW, I usually don't pay attention to this, but Sansa was an ugly crier this episode lol.

Definitely ranks among the best episodes of the series thus far.
I like how they've managed to tie up some of the loose ends spawned from their deviation from the book.
Ros for instance got a fitting end, she was never a major character and didn't overstay her welcome. Yet, by adding her we got several viewpoints of Westeros from different social levels. Rightfully meeting her end once she got involved in the game of thrones.

Except for the "Ladder" scene and probably a couple i'm forgetting they all seemed fairly weak to me. I dunno. It was okay. NOTHING compared to the last two weeks, they were both 9+/10 at least but i'd have to give this one like a 5/10 or something.

anyone know if joffrey's wedding will be this season?
|
They tie up loose ends pretty well
The previews showed Melisandre with Thoros, so it was natural that they would combine Gendry with Edric Storm.
I'm surprised Ros got killed before the royal wedding, and via Joffrey. I thought they would keep her character alive until season four, considering the extra screen time she has had so far.

Can someone tell me if Melisandre actually met Thoros of Myr in the book like she did in this episode because I can't seem to recall that happening but i read the book ages ago so I might be wrong

No, that never happened. This is basically replacing the "Edric Storm" part of the story.

Why did they make Loras the sole heir of Highgarden? You'd think that a woman as crafty as the Queen of Thorns might have wanted a back up or two in case her gay grand son doesnt produce an heir. And in fact, wasnt he in Renly's "Rainbow Guard", which presumably would get promoted to the real one, thus again, making him ineligible to inherit Highgarden. The only explanation that kind of makes sense is that the woman of Highgarden are all manipulative geniuses and they dont care what the last names are as long as they control their men. Anyway, it seemed like a lame way of getting the Tyrells to agree to the Cercei wedding. Especially after Orleanna handled Tywin so thoroughly last episode.
|
After the Hound left and Mandin Moore died they haven't mentioned who filled the spots.
|
Yea I mentioned earlier how I was sad they didn't mention Garlan. But I felt like if they just made a mention to Willas at least as being Sansa's betrothed, things would seem way more logical
I'll be curious how they handle Loras into Kingsguard in the show.
|
Even the entire conversation seemed off between tywin and orlenna. "You will order Laras to marry Cercei or I will make him ineligable to marry and no heir for highgarden!"
"Oh okay my lord, I guess I have no choice. Oh by the way, the food supply that keeps the city from rioting and the troops deployed along yours are suddenly needed in the Reach for some kind of emergency. Also, the food that we sell directly to you for gold has tripled in price because inflation. Well, good luck with your war, your soldiers have proved so spectacularly inadequate I am sure theyll turn it around any day now"
I have no idea how Tywin gets away with threatening the very existence of house tyrel so easily, and one of the best players of the game of thrones just folds her cards.

As one who hated the ladder scene too, I take the extra step to call it the worst episode in all three seasons. The only scene that was good was Tywin v Olenna, and even that was probably the worst Tywin scene they have had. The Frey negotiations, getting to know Ramsay (for those who didn't already anyway), and the Arya/BwoB stuff was ok. Worst was the bad feeling it left off with thanks to a solid chunk of weak scenes at the end.
At least Ros is dead.
Whoever allowed that closing scene to be should be donated to the Ramsay and Joffrey entertainment foundation.
