Yeah you are probably right... i felt the same way as Forikorder, confused...

I think reading the upcoming arc as having many similar parallels with other mangas (Toriko or whatever) is simply ridiculous. We don't know whether or not it was in the original plans however long ago We don't know if the new world will even be an important part of the next arc We don't know , even if it was a complete rip off , in what direction we will be taken.
To me it's a senseless as saying ... ohh Gon is a young boy , so was goku when he first set off on an adventure! He is ripping off DBZ!!!
The setting(space , dark ages , modern day tokyo , parralel universes) has VERY little importance in mangas. It's about how rich the world is , how unpredictable/inspiring/real the characters are. How ambiguous the entire thing is , we are just witnesses to this entertaining story.
If we know anything about HxH by now is that things unfold slowly , carefully , meticulously. With a great deal of time spent elaborating on the how , the why , the inner struggles. I believe mangas like HxH , Gantz , Death Note are on another level when it comes to story telling. There is an actual tension in the developments , anything can happen , there is a sense of "realness" when it comes to their approach which I just don't get from other mangas such as Berserk or One Piece.
HxH has so many interesting characters that they could spend another 600 chapters developing each of them. The art doesn't matter either , sketchy/perfectly drawn ... who cares?

not saying HxH is ripping off toriko

the funny thing is the path HxH is taking right now, is what one piece did from the very beginning, explore the new world or "what's out there" while this has potential i don't see it becoming any better from here on out.

woah i had no idea this was still going on lol, its been like....what.... 10+ years?!

Manga solved. Gon doesnt care about his mother so itll be a while before shes actually important to the plot
i wonder if Gin knows exactly when he stopped the tape

Funny how people are saying togashi is copying other mangas, this "other world" thing prolly exists in over a hundred mangas. Hell, it even existed in YUYU HAKUSHO (and guess who the author was).

It feels like we have a lot of silent chapters recently in HxH. I guess it makes up for the ones before with the election but it really slows down the story a lot. Kind of weird.

slow? I actually found it to be the fastest way to show what other chars did after gon's issue. Design was decent and I really enjoted this one ( specially coz it seems there wont be outside world for awhile and I was really desliking the idea of more ants.. ) , the only thing I didn't get well was the gotoh's part.. can someone explain¿? :D

Logically it makes sense for them to take a break instead of non-stop action like most manga readers expect these days (just personal preferance). All action and no quality...not my cup of tea. And I don't mean art quality, I mean the feel of the story.

then they take a break?
this chapter would work nice if it was the final chapter but not with how the last couple went you dont go "oh BTW theres a huge giant amazing world out there" then cancel the manga
not that it is cancelled but this chapter would fit at the very end
