Yeah and again I'm really disappointed that we didn't get to see anything of his nen abilities before he died

Meruem was already far too strong. but thats becuase they manajed to elarn how to use nen he lucked out getting the nen he did and ate 2 of his guards so essentially fighting the king was fighting the kind and 2 of his guards at the exact same time the ants in the other world are probably mroe stronger but no special nen abilities I just don't see the ant in the other world being stronger. Also, even before the King ate the two royal guards he went up against the strongest human by far and crushed him without trying. And that was just with straight up brute force with no special ability involved. Nen is pretty much what makes anyone strong in HxH since it amplifies all your basic abilities. its not like the King would be at the bottom of the food chain of the other world, remember the trash ants which were completely fodder, the royal guards were strong but not insanely strong only the king was god mode, its impossible that everytihng in the other world is king-level strong

No they were able to use nen becauset he queen devoured nen users. They had no such thing before human contact. The bugs that came later were strong only because the queen's food was strong, therefore whatever genetic materials they had before paled in comparison to the humans. Under this premisis, the onlly way that the outside world can be strong would be if the queen ants had minimal strength at every generation and its offspring are unable to pass on their strength in future queens. But that would make for a horrible evolution.

The idea of a bigger and more dangerous world utside the known one was ripped off Toriko so hard. It's actually exactly the same..

Pitou from the moment of birth was not only able to use Nen but also profecient in using En which is probably how she was able to findthe archer hiding in the corpses
therefore Chimerae ants form that world were always able to use Nen but only the royal guards could use it instinctively

On top of that, Togashi already did something similar with YuYu Hakusho 20 years ago. Hardly a ripoff at all.

To actually discuss this chapter... was anyone bummed out when Gon and Killua parted ways?

Myeah, guessing that they'll do some "training" before enetering this new world. I was slightly disappointed in how Killua just were like "oh thank so much for saving me XD that was great XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD". It was so much more emotional in the middle of the fight, now he just brushed over it. Can't wait for some good chapters though, he can do amazing art when he really strives for it.
Edit; Ofc I was bummed out that they passed ways. Killua is what made the story really interesting, especially the part when they were advancing in the tower and Killua threatened the ones who were scheming against them. Their sort of the complete opposites of eachother, which he portraits pretty nicely. While at the same time their both strong of hearts. Killua being the backside of the leaf or w/e

Toriko ripped that off from one piece, one piece ripped that off from final fantasy three or something and final fantasy probably ripped off the actual discovery of the new world, it's just a general thing that comes up in stories now and then, its all about the execution.

Very interesting was seeing killuas cold face in start contrast to gons warm content one as they parted ways. It suggests that gons story will be more ala greed island and killua's will be more like the city/spider ark.

The only thing that irked me a bit was how casual Gon found out who saved him. I thought there would be bigger consequences based on this conversation a few chapters back.

Art isn't great, but I get genuine feeling from his characters. That's what I like about Hunter X Hunter, they seem to mean it when they say something.

There is no reason for Gon to actually go to the outside world. My guess is Gin and Gon will part ways.

I see something more like Gon training with Gin and after that who knows meeting killua again

no one can go to the outside world atm, though
but you can bet this is going to be a major plot point later. probably *the* major plotpoint of HxH where everything will center around after a given point :p

Why did Gon do anything in HxH so far? He wanted to meet his father. How is it a stretch to imagine them wanting to go to the outside together? His father is very friendly with animals they could easily fly to the "outside" or a boat or even a nen dragon.
I'm excited to see what happens next.

Or it could be like greed island where only a select few ever get to go there...
But regardless of where this idea is coming from (new world analogy / jap folk) i like the presentation (as someone commented above) which is all that matters. It is something unimaginable that is driving Gin.
