I just started watching yesterday, but I absolutely love it. I plan on catching the rest on Netflix now.

The zombies themselves just present themselves as both an obstacle and an urgency. People expecting l4d type zombie warfare should just stop watching and posting hate in this thread. This isn't that type of show and wasn't ever meant to be. I mean look. First season while zombies were present and a threat. Shane, merle, the hat guy who is bit, and later the cdc guy were the REAL dangers to the group. Because they aren't mindless, they aren't predictable, and humanity takes a shit on itself when society is removed. This hasn't changed this season with otis not some fucking zombie hurting the child. And people turning on rick for losing sophia. These are the things splitting and harming the group. Hell look how quickly they fixed the black guys imminent danger with drugs. All things zombie involved are largely trivial compared to what the people themselves put themselves in. I'd like to iterate that they were so busy freaking out about zombies and the girl missing because of zombies that they didn't think to ask people for supplies. Kind of simple irony that occurs because of zombies. Or because people are thrown into this crazy survival mode and we want to see how they'd react. I didn't like only two parts (a record) this show. And they were both somewhat believable. The zombie randomly showing up and almost raping Andrea can be forgiven cause she was kind of distraught at the time and coulve have wandered off slightly, but they really got wayy too far away from her to be really believable. And it could've just been a random zombie that the camera angle missed or was behind a tree until she came by. Nothing terrible there because the zombie could've just woken up from her walking. But the reason that's in the scene is to make Dale feel worse about not giving her a gun, or to promote that idea. Not so much with the doctor. Just say, "a couple of fragments" because you can actually feel some. Don't say "six." A little more believability would be much appreciated. Everything else was very well done. Great turnaround for the series. I liked the black guy's realization lolol. Also Daryl is fricking bad ass as usual. And zombies! I still don't like how they can run, or go up stairs. They're supposed to be dumb and "walkers." It really kills off a huge part of the comic if they can run.

Even when he was bashing the hope and faith thing he just cooly says "we will find her she will be ok". Badass with that crossbow action as well. Yea, i'm really liking the direction his character is headed this season. I feel like there are people like him, who have gained a lot of depth, and then the two girls who seemed to have lost a lot of depth (with their constant complaining about being alive / missing their daughter). But i mean, it's a zombie apocalypse, so their irrationality is kind of understood. I've got a feeling there's definitely something up with the people in that house, I'm just trying to figure out what it is first.

The big problem with the first episode of season 2 was how they + Show Spoiler + ended up on the damn highway . When I first saw the guy on a chopper, I thought, ok, he's going to ride ahead and scout out the roads. Then I thought, how are they going to communicate. I see it didn't matter, since he didn't scout at all and they all got stuck on the highway. Then, wow, dozens of walkers get up to like 50 yards from them. Great. That was just a few of the problems. Oh, and like others have said, they are all walking in a group in the woods, + Show Spoiler + then blond chick magically gets separated and attacked by a walker. This guy is wrong on a few points, but basically nails it. http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/kschlichter/2011/10/19/is-the-walking-dead-terminal-yes-because-its-stupid/ That is an annoying review because I doubt most people even thought about any of that "liberal shots at conservatives" BS that he is spewing. I know I sure as hell didn't who is that lame to LOOK for stuff like that in a freaking TV show?

I don't know when/how they are going to work Tyrese into the series though and I'm not sure how the prison will work if they're too afraid to deal with children (which the absence of Billy/Ben and Carl's lack of shooting Shane hint at) + Show Spoiler [Comic] + Tyrese won't be in this series. With, Shane living he has replaced Tyrese. Pretty sure they won't deal with the death of any children in the show, with all of them but Carl being absent. I just hope they include one of my favorite characters from the book in the governor, but by the looks of it I don't think he'll be in the TV series.

Since when has a zombie movie or show ever had its key focus be on characters? It is about survival. People these days just want everything to be perfect or something is not good enough for them. It reminds me of the "Getting Older" Southpark, you see shit because thats what you expect. I expected a great show last fall. I came into the first season with the best of hopes. With AMC's past success as well as critically acclaimed source material to back it up I definitely bought into the hype and thought this could be something I could validate watching every Sunday. The first episode was great. I really thought I would be enjoying it more than I am now. As season one wore on and season two has started is has been disappointing. The season two premiere just didn't do anything for me. With news that Darabont was fired specifically due to the episode one fiasco I decided to stick it out a little longer and see what direction they take the show, because I've already invested the time to watch it thus far so I might as well stick with it a little longer. This episode was better, but still doesn't live up to the level of hype this series has gotten. On your first point though, you're entirely right. My standards are high. Considering every Sunday I go from watching this to watching Boardwalk Empire, the difference is like night and day. I don't watch any other dramas atm. I don't watch the hoards of other shitty dramas on major network/cable television. So I'll concede that this could be considered relatively 'good' television, but it doesn't stand up to the truly great dramas over the last 10 years, and it isn't even anywhere near the best AMC has to offer. Hopefully it will continue to improve in the coming weeks, because I'll still be watching for the time being, though if things continue at this pace I don't see myself making it through 13 episodes.

I don't really like how they can't figure out if we're supposed to like or hate certain characters. Shane gets drunk and almost rapes Lori and then two episodes later he's having a bromance with our hero. Andrea is being a total bitch for no reason. "It's a zombie apocalypse!" is a pretty lame excuse for characters acting certain ways for no reason. Not part of the "this show sucks!" group, I will continue watching. But I hope they can get this series more focused.

"It's a zombie apocalypse!" is a pretty lame excuse for characters acting certain ways for no reason. Not part of the "this show sucks!" group, I will continue watching. But I hope they can get this series more focused. Andrea is a bitch cause she wants to leave cause Dale's overprotective and she feels she's an adult. Also, she wants her bloody gun. Shane did that 1 episode, 1 season and 1 episode ago. And obviously he's having some internal conflict from Lori telling him he can't just leave them, to how much he cares for Lori and Carl, to his longtime friendship with Rick. He doesn't hate Rick, he's just pissed off at what's happening to his half-perfect world (half from zombies) before Rick returned. The black guy was high from a fever the entire episode, but has sort of a revelation moment from insanity and burning up. We should be seeing more of those as people start falling apart. Asian guy hasn't done anything noteworthy yet except save Rick. That's going to change probably now that I think about it... Bald-ish lady is dead inside cause she lost her husband and her daughter (and no one cares (99% leave on episode 1 talking dead lolol)). Rick is being pulled apart by his son, and how much he owes Shane for all his help, and his own decisions as a leader since he's the one that let Carl stay with them and that came from leaving the bald lady's daughter alone. Lori is kind of an asshat, but it's still somewhat believable by being mad at everyone. There's really no other way for her to act though. Stupid horse scene, I cringed. Thank God it was just her crying and not happy reunion kiss time... And of course, Daryl is a total baller. They explained the smelling part in the first episode of the Talking Dead I think, where they said it's not like hypersensitive, but they can distinguish friend and foe pretty easily with all of their senses combined. Smelling people hiding under cars is completely different from smelling people walking by you wearing zombie guts, and then having the rain wash off the guts. Also, rain makes things smellier. I'm not sure why you guys are so hung up over this still. And it's like the Game of Thrones. Are you even supposed to like or hate characters? Or are you supposed to like all humans since it's humans versus zombies? These things still exist in a zombie reality, and that's what the show is trying to present. It's a zombie apocalypse, but we're arguing over liking or hating characters. I think the show has done a good job so far then. These are the premises I've gathered from watching the show and reading the comic, and I try to remember them to help me enjoy the show more. But in the end, I love zombies, and everyone here does. So let's just enjoy that.
