| Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Typical for modern television? You do realise that we are currently in a golden age for television right?
Pretty much every channel other than HBO is putting out complete rubbish. There are very few shows on other channels that compare. I thought AMC was going to be the next channel putting out the quality that HBO does, but seeing what they have done to the walking dead I am definitely not feeling the same.

FX has a really strong lineup.

HBO is still television so it's not "other then" it's all part of the spectrum of television.

And i really feel like you don't have proper understanding of the history of television and what was being produced maybe 10-20 years ago and prior.

Television has only recently begun to shed the image of being the place where poor writers go to die. Big names have started throwing their names into the mix and even succesfull movie writers have signalled intrest in wanting to jump into TV.

I did not suggest that everything being produced right now is the best of the best but there has never been a better line-up of high quality shows then in the past few years. Even the reality-TV craze has been dying off altough it's doubtfull that it will ever be completely gone seeing as how cheap it is to fill airtime with.

How can this show be so unbelievably bad. How can you take such a great original and produce this string of shit out of it.

Sorry to anyone who likes it for this ranting. I don't think I have seen such a disappointment on TV.

I'll reiterate what I said earlier in the thread:
Episode 1 was slow paced because they began multiple, intertwining plots (kid getting lost; zombie herd mystery; Carl getting shot; Shane wanting to leave; Dale getting ripped a new one by Andrea (people say the acting is bad? Did they even watch that scene and the part where she stabs the zombie with a screwdriver?); Rick's sudden religiousness.

Bad acting? Give me a break. It's a fine ensemble cast. Stop being nitpicky. This is the best Zombie show ever.

I actually like a lot of the USA shows for a lighter, fun shows like Psych. :D

Well, there is a reason s01e01 was the best and one of few good episodes.

SERIOUSLY.

And Homeland's not too bad. A bit bland, but alright.

 Edit:

I thought this was a good setup. Last season was great (with a few flop episodes), and I'm really looking forward to this one, even as a fan of the comics.

The part of not seeing the zombies until they were like 10 meters from the van made me go WTF big time...
Terribad episode from a mediocre series IMO The only thing I liked was the speech the blondie gave to the old man.

meh i probably wont watch this anymore.
i thought the first season was half decent but the start of this season was terrible, there's a lot better tv shows out there than this one.

I enter this thread to write how bad the first episode of season 2 is. But so many have already summarized all the bad things and raged, lol.
Thank fucking god we still have Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.

Were not being nitpicky. The acting is fucking atrocious. Like soap opera bad.

I don't understand why people keep saying because the zombies are awesome the show is awesome. The focus of The Walking Dead is how people survive in a zombie apocalypse, not zombies. The zombies are awesome, but the people are the core of the story.

And as people have said, Showtime, and FX are putting out some great shows too. AMC is too, just not this one, which is insane because this has the potential to be the biggest show on cable.
