Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |
Considering how adamant I am about how awful this show is. I actually quite enjoyed the last episode. The change of scenery was good and I did enjoy the character developments. I'm sure Carol will be back unless I am missing something (I don't watch talking dead etc). The amount of cheesy artificial danger was pretty low as well.
Only stupid parts I thought were how the crippled girl's leg was severed. That was clearly a cut and not ripped off. Probably just a shitty oversight by whoever was in charge or props. And the part when the zombie fell down the stairs and Rick had to pull Carol out of the way. I counted and it took a whole 5 seconds for the zombie to fall down the stairs. How could no one react to that in time is beyond me. Inb4 fanboys use the excuse she was probably shocked at the arrival of the zombie, without factoring in this is their world now and I'm sure they're hardened to such things by now. I admit though this is me just nitpicking.
Overall good episode.

I'd use the "excuse" of character consistency ;o
Up until this season Carol was always used in supporting roles for the group that didn't really involve any combat. I can't even recall her killing a single zombie up until this season (and quite unskillfully at that) so it makes sense there's still some residual fear left in her as she doesn't really have much experience as a raider. Though she's getting there

Big let down. Seriously stop watching (and posting). This season's been pretty good relative to the others and this was one of its better episodes. Every week I come on here to see idiots posting about how horrible X episode was.

Overall good episode. I agree. Another inconsistency is how there were suddenly bloody-eyed zombies running around... those people had all been living in the hospital with the damned medicine right there (unless we find out next ep that the meds don't work, then it's ok).
But all in all, was a good ep.

So yeah all the people complaining about Carol being callous with regards to the kids and their dad as well as the murder, maybe next time you should just wait 5 seconds for some exposition instead of complaining.
This ep showed just how much Carol has changed and I thought it was really good.
Tyrese has gone off the deep end too.

Iunno how anyone can complain about this episode. It's a filler episode, yeah. They generally cover character development, not plot movement. But for the first time in a while we have a filler episode that doesn't involve two people hating each other for some irrational, asinine reason. It actually explores a relevant perspective where a character that was completely uninteresting for the last 3 seasons is now interesting, and only because of character development. This episode is a really good sign.
Also I knew from the start that Carol was going to be exiled. The first half of the episode was Rick contemplating Carol's murders, and then just before they left he packed her satchel of knives. I didn't think it was that subtle of imagery but I guess it was too subtle for most.

The last episode was amazing. Really reveals a lot about many of the characters. Looking forward to next week!

I wondered about the knives, thought Rick was going to go all Dexter on Carol, but in hindsight this makes much more sense

Season 2 is slow in the middle, picks up at the end. Season 3 is pretty solid.

s2 is a massive letdown after a pretty good first season. Though it is unfortunately necessary. It isn't even that it's so heavy on the character development (the whole show is that way so I know what I'm in for), but the fact that it repeatedly goes over the same elements. The entire thing just feels like this spinning wheel of boredom...then it ends. 5/10 season.
I think s3 will reward you if you survive the dull as all hell s2. Unlike from what I've gathered, I actually thought s3 was fairly solid the whole way, it's just the finale (which the season builds on throughout) is a total bomb. It did at least contain two of my favorite episodes in the series. 7.5/10 season

aight thanks! im at the middle of episode 2 now :D
guess i'll have to tug through season 2 lolol. i'm still wondering what the doctor said at end of season 1 ~_~
p.s: is there any link between the show and the game? i've played the whole season 1 of the game.

Decent episode.
Just wondering what the couple was about. They give them guns and just go gathering tomatoes very close. Then they see the leg cut off and the body being eaten. If that was zombies I would expect the couple to fire some shots or make more noise that Carol and Rick would hear. But nothing happen so either the guy killed her or the writers have again made a blunder.

The only thing I can think is that they were surrounded, and the guy decided to kill her and cut her up to save himself. It doesn't really make sense though, you'd think he would at least try to shoot a few of them first. And if he were just a psychopath, he could have killed her long ago.

I thought season 2 was great, it is just way slower than the first one.
And no the game and series aren't linked at all, except that Glen and Hershel show up in both.

Re: chopped-off leg
Perhaps someone else found the couple (Governor crew?!?!?) and cut off her leg for some reason. Was it clear that the zombies were eating the woman? Could have been anyone. That said, my interpretation is that they died. The point of the sequence was to show how death is a constant threat, and that Rick's ambivalence towards allowing the two into the prison is justifiable.

My problem with all these explanation is that Rick and Carol seem to not be far. Maybe the show just fails at showing that they are actually really far but being on foot I doubt they went out of hear range to hear gunshot or in the case of the governor, vehicles. Unless the governor was there in the beginning but that sounds just stupid.
Bah we'll see next episode if its just an inconsistency or there is something to it.
