"Southern" is painting accents with an incredibly large brush. People from Kentucky speak veeeeeeery differently from most other places that are considered part of the "South" imo. please you barely count as "Southern". And I don't know enough about southern accents to be able to get annoyed, which is the same with nearly everyone. I can tell there's a difference between like...Rick and Daryl, for instance, but I don't know that Daryl has (say) an Atlanta accent while Rick has a Backwatermiddleofnowheresville accent. Same with basically every region re differentiation. He does it well enough that I had no idea he was British until I looked him up. He doesn't have any of the accent bleed a lot of foreign actors do (like Sam Worthington in Terminator)

My heart was pounding when Shane sacrificed Otis and then ritualistically shaved his hair. That was cool. But it took them like 7 episodes to get that sort of feeling back in me again. That's a really bad sign but hopefully it is more telling of Darabont and there are talented people at the helm now. That last scene was extremely promising. I think the fact that the first season was demonstrably better than the second is a bad sign that Darabout is gone. The lower quality is almost certainly due to his removal, different writers who changed as well during the seasons and lower budgets. On February 13 2012 16:00 Tachion wrote: I thought it was because of how the non-fat guy came on really strong about finding out where they lived. Shane kinda skimped around the question at first, and instead of letting it go he kept on persisting which drew more red flags. That's the way It came off to me anyway. Yeah, it felt like Rick was using his training immediately and reading both of the guys well, even before the more obvious warning signs. Agreed that Lori driving off to do exactly what Rick and Glen were already doing makes no sense at all. But hey, shows have lots of moments like that, and you can always just tell yourself she panicked a bit, especially because the girl who struggled with the walker at the start of the episode is in a deep fever, you know, that thing that's been killing everyone and turning them into zombies, and then move on as the audience is forced to do. On February 13 2012 21:38 shizna wrote: guys the scene in the bar... 1. they've probably already had a run in with dangerous survivors... rick and glen for sure, probably hershal as well considering his stance on rick's group staying at the farm. in a chaotic apocalypse situation, thugs and criminals are probably the best survivors because they won't hesitate to kill other people and steal their stuff. damn right they would be suspicious. 2. the guys at the bar were all kinds of dodgy. if you didn't catch the signals then maybe you're autistic. 3. dude behind the bar drew his gun on rick, that's why rick shot him. i thought it was one of the best scenes in the entire show thus far... it keeps getting better. loving it. Thanks detective. Clearly the rest of tl missed all that. Thank god you're here to find it for us. On February 14 2012 05:10 tofucake wrote: Personally I think Rick is done quiet well, considering his natural accent and all. I can't do a southern accent very well and I'm American. Props to Lincoln, imo. Agreed. He's a really good actor and one of the better on the show. Can't please everyone though.

He doesn't have any of the accent bleed a lot of foreign actors do (like Sam Worthington in Terminator) I'm not saying I'm Southern, and that's pretty much my point. Rick is hardly Southern either as you put it. He is from Cynthiana, just under 60 miles from where I live. If I'm not "Southern" in your mind he shouldn't really be either. I continue to agree with you though, his accent is well done. @Subversive - you are aware that Darabont was still the showrunner for filming of the first like 6 or 7 episodes of shooting? And that AMC fired him after he came back with a version of the first episode that AMC considered unusable? I'm sure the budget cuts hamstrung him in what he thought he could achieve but the first half of the season that was still pretty much underwhelming? That was all Darabont. Well maybe not all him but he was still very much involved with those episodes.

New York, NY – February 13, 2012 – Last night, AMC’s mid-season premiere of “The Walking Dead” became the strongest telecast for any drama in basic cable history against key demos including 5.4 million adults 18-49 and 4.4 million adults 25-54. These results shatter the previous record, which was held by the series two premiere from October 16th with increases of +12% and +6% respectively. The show delivered 8.1 million viewers for its 9pm premiere and delivered 10.1 million viewers for the night (9pm premiere and 11pm and 12:30 am encores). At 10pm, AMC also premiered its newest unscripted series, “Comic Book Men,” executive produced by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Chasing Amy), Charlie Corwin’s Original Media (LA Ink, Storm Chasers, Swamp People) and Elyse Seiden (Red State). The series delivered 2 million total viewers.

(all of this in the show of course - playing the character of Dr. Sarah Tancretti) The show was based around (from season 2 and on) Michael Scofield being the brains for everyone running away and Alexander Malone being the brains for trying to find Michael and the rest of the escapees. Season 3 continued with them working together to retrieve Scylla and get it into the right hands. So her intelligence wasn't a big part of the show and wasn't a big factor in Prison Break either.

So then <LITTLEKID> shoots his mother in the face, doing the 'right thing' as he said in the previous episode. It all wraps back together, you see. We get rid of Lori quickly and efficiently (seroiusly, was what she did out of character at all? Was there ever any doubt she was mentally challenged?), we have a nice drama moment when a kid has to kill his mother, and the show can finally get to being pretty cool again. Hahaha that is brutal, would love to see it happen though.

Thought we could use a drink." Dave (the new guy): "A drink? Herschel I thought you quit." I think there's clearly some history/familiarity there, but I'm not sure what the point is. If the writers are bringing it up though, it isn't just random, the whole scene seemed pretty purposeful and theres no reason to think that exchange wasn't. He said in the start of the scene that he quit drinking..literally 2 minutes earlier.

So far, the season has been filled with tension and people are just complaining about "WHERE ZOMBIES AND GUNS?!" It's called pacing people. I've been enjoying the season so far and the tension between Dale and Shane has especially been unnerving.

Herschel said he stopped drinking sometime in the beginning of their encounter with the new guys. ninja'd by a long time. Anyway, I think the farm is getting a bit old. It was an awesome idea with the sense of finding a safe haven away from the living hell, but they're dragging it on. Honestly looks like they're going to be there for a few more episodes.
