Naww.. That's probably One Piece which Fairy Tail has a lot of similarity to. They're both great but in terms of pure volume/popularity I'd be fairly confident to say it's One Piece.
Why doesn't master just Fairy law the all the baddies?

i really would have liked to have seen gildartz fight. but i guess his power is way way way above that of the crew that just showed up since natsu is likely going to beat their top guy and he was 50x >>>> natsu

I disagree. This time they have Makarov, Mirajane, and Gajeel (wendy will do something). I also suspect Wendy to kick ass. Erza and Mirajane can probably each take on one. Gray will somehow take out Ultear with help. Makarov will take out Hades. The rest of the purgatory sins are for sure stronger than fairy tail, but if they end up getting help from Zeref, its not gonna feel crummy.

I don't see anyone being able to take on Hades but Makarov, so hell most likely be beat and come back if anything.

+ Show Spoiler + Yeah THAT I didn't expect. Good twist, but I feel that fairy tail is all the more fucked now .
|
+ Show Spoiler +The funny thing is, after whole 48 years, Makarov seem to have gotten older so much , but Hades haven't changed at all . Rofl xD. I am expecting Makarov to get killed or at least severely wounded ! due to "My former Master, nooo i can't fight anymore - me so weak now" - LOL
|
The art looks surprisingly similar to One Piece.
|
+ Show Spoiler +Hades being the former master is a nice twist, I kind of wonder if this is the end of Makarov. He was supposedly on death's door way back in the Laxus arc and hes been somewhat inexplicably better since then. His speech at Vermillion's grave last chapter coupled with Gildartz emerging as a pretty logical successor tend to make me think that hes going to bite the dust here but the manga has always been pretty light hearted so that's hard to say.
I feel like this manga is getting pretty repetitive too, 95% of the villains have absolutely zero depth to them (this arc Hades and Ultear are the only two that seemingly have any). Most of the seven sins of purgatory are just going to get their asses kicked and will never be seen again with maybe one or two joining fairy tail afterwards. It feels like every arc is just Natsu, Lucy, Grey, and Erza + random fairy tail people or allies vs one villain that has something to them with numerous stock characters that don't mean anything. This author likes short story arcs (I think most of them only last 30-40 chapters) so that's probably a necessity for that type of story telling but it really makes the story lack any kind of epic feel. I don't really care about any of the characters as I'm not emotionally invested in any of them like I am with the One Piece characters and I think the story suffers for it.

Just got home, time to read this and go to bed!
Link on OP is updated.

+ Show Spoiler +My wait a second something is up senses started tingling two pages in haha. I was wondering why they would suddenly flashback and show when Makarov became the master of FT. I mean I didn't expect that the leader of Grimoire Heart would be the same dude but something was going down with him.
|
that page that said "grimoire law" was mighty fine though. Loved seeing Makarov in ultra badass mode then suddenly look so surprised and fucked.
|
+ Show Spoiler +You guys think Hades is the real former FT master or did someone take over the body or something? Hasn't it been like 50 years since he gave power to Makarov? Mofo must be super old. Anyways I agree shit is getting interesting, anything is better than the Edolas arc which I didn't like at all.

The authors of Fairy Tail and One Piece learned from the same guy (Akira Toriyama) and went to the same art school, hence their similar styles.
And awww mang. Hades. Cool twist, but we didn't even really know about the guy before this chapter AFAIK so it's really not that huge. I hope he's not actually Hades somehow..

damn i gotta stay outta this thread till i catch up on the manga, just finishing the anime now

Mangastream just released the new chapter http://mangastream.com/read/fairy_tail/64212226/1 ... + Show Spoiler +Love to see Laxus coming back ^^
I think gray will take on Ultear and the bull seems to be a celestrial Spirit which would lead to Lucy fighting him (I think Lucy is underrated. She is probably close to Grays level right now and would be far stronger if she'd not be so weak by herself (no defense without spirits)). Hard to see anyone come even close to Hades but the rest is of the guilds is probably an even match
|
+ Show Spoiler +I wonder if the author will really kill Makarov. No one has died yet in FT.
|
+ Show Spoiler +I did not expect that ending page of the chapter at all, we're going to be starting 2011 with an interesting note for FT
xlep, I think we'll see something amazing from Lucy since the Oración Seis arc when she used Uranometria with help. That proved that she is to be a major pillar in upcoming fights like this, she'll find a way to tap into it slightly I'm sure. Also, I'm curious to see if any of this dark guild are Dragon Slayers.
