It felt like they were simply referencing them as a tribute, it felt very awkward. Also the complete switch from absurdity to satyre finally happened in this series and unfortunately things don't look like they are going to change.
At least season 14 is not as bad as pure pwnage on showcase, South Park I can still watch, PP has lost me.

And you needed a whole episode to tell you something that is one of the lowest level-clichés? Up till season 9 one or two scenes, the introduction of a couple one-episode characters and they'd be done.
In the Cartoon Wars episodes (yes, the Family Guy ones) Kyle complimented Family Guy by saying taht "at least it doesn't get all preachy and stuff". Right now Trey is doing just the opposite, making the structure of the whole episode converge towards the final message. And Matt Stone shouldn't even be mentioned when speaking about the plots, he hasn't been involved in that department since season 8 or so, all he has been doing is the voiceovers for his characters.
that was obviously a shot at southpark itself since its been having a central message or theme in most episodes since season 4 or 5 (not all but most)

Yeah, r33k, way to completely fail and miss the point entirely.

lol this is the main reason I liked it. Makes me feel like the old days of Trapper Keeper or Rainforest Schmainforest. Still the humour was different and actually I'll agree very Family Guy. Still laughed hard at the presenters, how ridiculously easy it was for the book to make people vomit lol.
oh man... the 2nd episode of the season was incredibly bad. The entire only jokes in the episode comprised exaggerated vomiting, making fun of people who analyze books/poems, and sarah jessica parker being ugly. I'm so disappointed.
Guys, I don't mean to hijack this thread but after watching the latest southpark episode I gotta say I enjoyed it. But I needed something else to kill time with and I've seen every single southpark episode prior to that. So I decided to check out the latest FG season. FG started out brilliantly, peaked at season 2-3 and petered off into nothingness after that. But I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the newest season. It was just as good as the early seasons. (A few of them anyway). And I feel a little guilty for saying this but I laughed more and harder in one episode than I think I did watching half of last season's. I don't just go, "Hey THAT'S funny and clever, and sooo true, *chuckle*" But I actually laugh hard. Just sayin.

These comments are retarded, of course they referenced south park as a show that can get preachy if you abide to everything it says, it was the FIRST implication, what they gave there was a shoutout to a more lightweight alternative.
I kinda liked this episode. Might just be that I dislike reading between the lines and never got the point of that. Best episode in a while and already watched it twice.

You really think they were complimenting family guy? They HATE family guy, mainly because it has no message and is essentially just a string of gags.
How do you feel about Seth MacFarlane’s empire?
Trey: There’s more and more stuff every day finding its way onto American television that I think is really great, but then you get this bubblegum shit that’s just, like, by the book, what we call 9-to-5 comedy writers. They mostly have families and kids and that’s the most important thing and then they go in to work and write comedy and when it’s five o’clock, it’s time to go. It’s gag humour, and gag humour drives us crazy. Where it’s just, like, “Here’s a gag, here’s a gag”—it’s got nothing to do with what’s going on in the show, just like, “Here’s a gag.” And anyone who writes comedy knows that that is the very easiest, simplest thing to do and you don’t really need any talent to do it, you just learn the craft and do it.
Matt: Yeah, Family Guy’s just not a show I like. It’s funny, when we did that [Family Guy parody] show, it was more to point out that the similarities between our two shows is that they’re animated, and it stops there. They feel like very different shows. Family Guy, to comedy people, it’s kind of what that band the Offspring is to real punk rockers.
Trey: The biggest thing is that you essentially kill yourself for a show—it’s like, you’ve got to die for it. When you’re an artist, you’ve got to say to yourself, “This is all that matters, and if it kills me, so be it.” And then you have the Family Guy writing staff who come in 9-to-5, write their gags and go home. But what I absolutely must say to you is that this totally, purely 100 per cent completely, comes from a place of jealousy. Because when we’re sitting there in our room, it’s three in the morning and we’re 12 hours from having to air and we don’t have, like, a third act, wondering why we do this to ourselves, we’re just totally jealous of their job. Seth MacFarlane is basically in the same position as us except he hasn’t written a fucking thing in four years. I wish I was him.
What's the meanest thing ever said to you before, during or after a gig? MS: When people say to me, “God, you guys have one of the best shows on television. You and Family Guy.” That fucking hurts so bad. TP: Very well said. It's such a kick in the balls
I don't even care for South Park anymore. They're just getting more and more over the top and carried away with what they can get away with. The excessive blood and guts not to mention the vomit (latest episode). I don't care what points they're trying to make I hardly can even laugh at half of the stuff they do on the show anymore.
Yea this episode wasnt really funny at all. I got the point but feel it could have been done in half the time. There was no other element or side story going on. Felt like the were just dragging a bad joke out..
