Oh my god. That was fucking mental. Markus played for four hours straight and would have gone for four more if they let him. Nothing like any of his podcasts or festival sets I've heard, just four hour of dirty nasty progressive trance and I got to shake his hand after.

Markus really shines in long extended sets. I remember the Los Angeles '12 Release Party in LA last year. That weekend was fucking amazing. 10+ Hours the first night and at least 5 hours the next, not including some B2B's. God I missing living in LA and seeing those shows.

Fortunately Texas has some things going on. Just saw BT and Umek here in Austin, plus I have Super8 & Tab, Sasha, Tydi, BT again, Myon & Shane 54 all lined up for December. Going to be missing Orjan Nilsen and Roger Sanchez unfortnately. Damn Houston and Dallas being so far apart.

Went to ADE last week. Electric Deluxe was absolutely awesome on saterday night. So glad i went there instead of the Amsterdam Music Festival. The party was from 10pm till 10am. 12hours of the best techno i've heard in a long while!

Sunday i went to "dekmantel" a techno party as well Featuring Ben Klock. Really had to take monday and tuesday of to recover from this weekend.

Are there more Techno lovers here?

I would like to see more of this sound in this thread. American-style "EDM" is definitely the more popular sound, but there's so much more out there! I personally am loving Daniel Avery's new album. Here's one of my favorite cuts:

Very jealous of all those in the benelux area who can travel to ADE!

I'm seriously thinking of going to ADE just for club parties and after parties. I hear those are some of the best house/techno parties all year around. Just not sure I want to spend the money.

Don't miss orjan! He was EASILY one of my fave sets of tomorrow world. And super 8 finally decides to come to Chicago... THE SAME DAY AS ARTY? no anjuna artist for months and then two in one night. Obviously I'm going to arty and he's going to murder it but I'd love to see super 8. I'm super jealous you get to see ms54, they are amazing. And I swear to god if you live in Texas and didn't see any of mat zos million shows there while he completely avoids anything not on the coast of America I'm going to kill you.

HAHA! I completely love Orjan, and even saw him twice last year in LA. Actually Orjan made his US debut at the first show in LA. His sets were freaking awesome, however I haven't heard a ton of sets from him recently and the ones I have heard, haven't impressed me personally. Plus I'm going to see BT with my step dad, so pulling the Austin to Houston, back to Austin to Dallas trip would be incredibly difficult and honestly not worth it for me.

I didn't see Mat Zo on purpose. Not a fan of his anymore after all the antics and the direction his music is going. Same with Arty. Arty just happen to be closing for Eric Prydz when I saw him last year and I could only make it like 5 minutes into his set before I couldn't take it anymore. I'd definitely go to Super8 & Tab over Arty any day of the week imo. I've seen MS54 once this year already and was expecting much more then what I heard. Set wasn't overly bad just not as pure trance as I was expecting. Really only reason I'm going is because nothing else EDM wise is very appealing for NYE. I have a ticket for John Digweed in LA, but that would be too complicated for me to pull off.

Dang I forgot that I'm missing PVD this Friday in Houston as well, which is a sometime bummer as I've heard PVD's sets have been actually quite decently here as of late. Man skipped him in Seattle, now skipping him in Houston. Getting to old to keep up with all this.

Yeah mat zo has really moved away from trance but i loved his album (lucid dreams, pyramid scheme, the sky, easy, caller id all amazing tracks). For the most part i find him pretty hilarious on twitter and his dj sets enjoyable and you never know what he's going to play. Same with arty, i enjoy his recent stuff like flashback, open space, grand finale, ocean with PvD. And he was amazing live, so many sick mash ups and the crowd was going crazy. Thing called love vs England, Pyramid vs walter white, bipolar vs lucid dreams (so much anjuna lol). Dropped in a bit of trance too, i remember hearing flight 643 but dont think he really ever got above 135 bpm. Most DJs played towards the house side in chicago clubs because that's where it started. And yeah MS54 isn't really pure trance anymore but they put out a lot of uplifting music and enjoyable remixes that i love.

Little upset I missed Eric Prydz in Concert with fehrplay and olender but oh well PVD is coming to chicago at the end of the month and i'm thinking about seeing him depending on how my schedule works out.

Was in denver this past weekend and realized markus schulz was playing like half a block away from the bar i was at...so naturally i left my friends at midnight and went and partied with markus! Great venue (supposedly the best in the USA) and crowd despite it being like -14 out. Got a picture with him and he signed my suit coat hahaha! (don't worry it was from a thrift store lol) Second time seeing him in a month! Fantastic as always.

Considering going to Counterpoint (in Atlanta). Last year was alright from what I heard of it, but I'm not sure if I want to go. They have early bird tickets, but they haven't even released the list of whose playing, which is awfully sketch to me.

Oh well, probably just going to save up for Tomorrowland.

Make sure you jump on em! Main floor was like 100-110 for me and gone in like 30 minutes.

Not sure if i wanna see Khoma or Adventure Club this weekend...I like khoma's style more and it will be in a more intimate venue for less money but AC has some fantastic singles and is probably the only group that manages to play dubstep in a way i can listen to it. Not to mention those guys are fucking nuts! The show will probably be huge (dvbbs and mord fustang opening as well...). Fuck it i'll probably go to AC.

edit: FUCK andy moor is coming too chicago on friday as well!!! jesus christ

I have no clue who Khoma or Adventure Club are, so I would likely see Andy Moor. However I wasn't impressed at all the last two times I've seen him this year. Although I will admit I do have super high standards for what I'm looking for in a trance set and his last set I went to wasn't that bad. Either way Chicago is getting a lot of gigs. Didn't know the city was that popular, although it is that time of year where a lot f artists pop through the US.

As for you seeing Markus two times in a month. SO jealous!!!!! I miss those days of living in LA when I could catch an extended set of his 2 or 3 times a year. Also I thought about driving to Denver for that show, but it was on a Thursday plus Sasha and Tydi were coming to Dallas Friday and Saturday. So I opted for the shorter driver, though the weather was so bad in Dallas that both shows were cancelled. Freaking 3 hour drive for nothing!!!

I'd see Adventure Club However thats because i've been dying to see them. I've been listening to their stuff since before they kicked off being big (as in when they only had 3-4 songs up on soundcloud ) and i've yet to see them live Everytime they come to TO i seem to be out of town... only time it didnt happen was VELD over the summer, and their plane got delayed causing them to miss their set lol.

Markus has been playing a bit of khomas stuff recently, nice blend of progessive/trance i'd check out his stuff. Adventure club is a very unique style of electro/dub/vocal/trance/house.

Of course chicago is a popular stop! It's the birthplace of house. Lot of artists have come through here in the past and i had no idea (armin came through a year or two ago and the show was only like 15$) but obviously it's really exploded here.

Sucks both the clubs i've seen him at have kinda cut him off, at least in chicago he got in a nice 4.5 hour set (only because of daylight savings time) but in denver they cut him off at 2am SHARP I wanna see him in a club that doesn't give a fuck and just lets him go on forever like his 12 hour set in montreal lol. Sucks those shows got cancelled, i missed both tydi and sasha in chicago. I was actually supposed to go to dallas last weekend for a weightlifting competition and would have totally been down to go but opted for denver instead, luckily it turns out.

So this isnt really a super electronicy song, but its by Don Diablo who does do amazing progressive stuff.
https://soundcloud.com/edm/the-only-road-by-don-diablo

I think its an absolutely stunning song, and i find it nice to see that EDM artists can branch out to make other sounding stuff that is quite drastically different from their normal sound and have it still sound great.

(Compared to this; https://soundcloud.com/dondiablo/don-diablo-origins-available its very different aha)
