Sunday i went to "dekmantel" a techno party as well Featuring Ben Klock. Really had to take monday and tuesday of to recover from this weekend.
Are there more Techno lovers here?
I would like to see more of this sound in this thread. American-style "EDM" is definitely the more popular sound, but there's so much more out there! I personally am loving Daniel Avery's new album. Here's one of my favorite cuts: + Show Spoiler [Daniel Avery--these nights never end] +
Very jealous of all those in the benelux area who can travel to ADE!
-First off getting there I'm not sure why there was a line like a 1/4 mile long for an event you had to have tickets for, but whatever I met a friend in line and we got in relatively quickly. -Five dollars for one 8 ounce CUP of water. Are you fucking serious? At a sold out, steaming EDM event? They wouldn't even give you the bottle so that you could carry it with you, they poured it into a tiny paper cup. If you wanted free water, I think there was approximately one water fountain or the bathroom sinks (which they wouldn't let you take bottles/cups into at first). Every festival I've been to there's been abundant free water stations, and the clubs in downtown is always easy enough to get water from the bar or bathroom. For good reason: -On one of my trips to the bathroom to fill up my water (in the bottle i had to steal from the water station and sneak into the bathroom) I saw a kid collapsed on the floor. There was a couple concerned people helping him out and a staff guy with a radio. I asked him if he had called for help and he said it was on the way. Not feeling very confident I went to the med room to make sure. Another staff guy there says that someone went to go help. Still not feeling very confident I go back and check on the guy, still nobody there. At least point I'm just like fuck it and went to go grab an EMT from the ambulance outside. While I'm trying to do this the lady at the door is telling me I can't leave and if I do I can't come back in, while I'm telling her there's someone dying upstairs and I'm trying to get help. I finally grab an EMT and take him to the guy. They weren't exactly equipped to transport people from upstairs down to the med room so I end up picking the guy up and carrying him down there. A few minutes later we got him on to a stretcher and to the ambulance and called his family from his phone so they could take care of him, hope he's doing alright now -Probably half an hour later I see another person down on the floor. Help got there a lot quicker this time at least. -On the bright side, the guys at the med room hooked me up with a bunch of water bottles for helping out so I was able to hydrate some people that were clearly way too fucked up (which was a lot, jesus people need to party a bit more intelligently. Widespread dehydration probably wasn't doing anyone any favors) -I gave a volunteer guy that looked pretty thirsty a bottle of water. He said they didn't even have water on hand for the volunteers. Seriously? -There was a bit of moshing in the middle (which is fine) but some kid was super fucked up and ended up basically dragging a girl nearby to the ground and her costume and bra came off. Hopefully he got kicked out, I got out of the middle of the crowd at this point. -After that one of the lesser concerns but the music did not seem loud at all until dada life came on. Clockwork was playing a killer set but seemed pretty turned down. -Don't give out thousands of pillows at 9pm if you want people to have a giant pillow fight at midnight and not expect pillows to get thrown around and shit before that. -All that aside still managed to have a decent time. Aragon really needs to make a more rave friendly (more accessible water and medical help, a dancesafe booth would probably go a LONG way too) environment if they're gonna keep putting on shows. And people be smart when you're raving and look out for each other.
Most of those complaints were with the venue, guess i've just been spoiled with the festivals and clubs i've been too. The DJs (clockwork and dada life) themselves were pretty solid and apparantly we set a world record for biggest pillow fight (the ground was literally knee deep in pillow stuffing by the end of the night) but i missed it.
Hey TL community, accepting the fact that I won't get out of Platin League ever : ), I managed to focus on my greatest passion again. So in case you are into Tech-House I would like to recommend you my latest set (vinyl only): + Show Spoiler +
Damn, that sounds like a rather shitty venue Decaf
I ended up going to an event with Krewella and Seven Lions in TO called thriller or something that night. And it was pretty fun. Seven Lions wasnt that great, but the opening guy (Sour DJs or something?) was stellar along with Krewella. What made it even better though, was going from meeting Jaedong at WCS to a club to party the rest of the night up ^.^
Oh my god. That was fucking mental. Markus played for four hours straight and would have gone for four more if they let him. Nothing like any of his podcasts or festival sets I've heard, just four hour of dirty nasty progressive trance and I got to shake his hand after.
I came across this video in you tube yesterday. I think it's cool but I'm interested in the background music, Is it electronic music? pardon cause I'm not really sure. + Show Spoiler +
