Not sure if that's the only reason but yeah, definitely one of the reasons they played worse. It was strange to me that they've made that decision, Lil is much better than Artstyle at pretty much every hero, dunno why would they put him on pos 5 ward bitch heroes that won't farm anything and at the same time Artstyle won't farm anything as well since he just keeps dying.

Possible they were just trying to accommodate Artstyle and let him play whichever role he felt more comfortable with, and after MDL decided it was better with him on 5?

Was there any news on how the final four bracket works? Does VP get to choose who they play because of their best score or will they automatically play the wildcard winner?

Sure, I don't think that they have done this without thinking, it is just that it doesn't make much sense at least to me when you look at their playstyle.
