Liquid's entire brand of DotA this tournament has been "gimmicks", they are really not playing the same meta as the rest of the teams at all. So they're just doing their thing.

Not feeling it for Liquid- Let's see. entertainment is great, I can't complain.

This is not DotA, this is pathetic. That was hardly a disgusting draft by liquid, it was their typical kotol first aghs day push timing that went wrong in early game so they resorted to ratting it. Now Brood+Veno+Huskar/Dazzle is brrrr So let's say it's not the draft but the strategy they resorted to after losing early so badly. This is not DotA, this is pathetic. Huh? Lots of people are saying "cancer cured" or whatever. Lot is not enough, should be everybody. There is nothing cancerous about ratting. Hell, if not for ratting this game would be pretty boring. Now try and find fun in match with Brood+Huskar+Dazzle. I don't have any problem with ratting being a part of the game overall, but this risk-free Agha bear strategy is far beyond what should be allowed in this game (imo). Any other hero than sniper (that wouldn't have been able to chip the last tower) and the game can last 80 min. Actually a better in-your-face mid and game ends even quicker in LFY's favor. i don't know about that, sniper was very difficult to punish because he was positioned so well. the hero pulled off the early, mid and late game well. he kinda shit the bed late game tbh yathink so? he did what was needed, and can deal with the spellspam while still sieging from a safe place i thought his TP after he used buyback and his positioning thereafter in that last fight was really poor. i think they started takin g their hands off the keyboards as a celebration of killing the beast, and then had to go back to playing cause tl never GGs

The thing is Liquid's games are "boring" if their opponents arent disciplined and decisive enough to handle the split push + have the team fight prowess to win in their small time windows. Liquid's strength in applying macro pressure give them huge margin for error. They can constantly prod the opposing team into commiting macro errors. Fans of lesser teams like to call it boring cause they feel their team has no way of winning. Its an excellent strategy. The individual skill of Liquid players round them out to be a strong team.
LFY plays a "dumber" strategy. They are more focused on the micro and they have to find kills to win. They were up so many kills and they were in a good positions in all 3 lanes in the early game but Liquid's economy was never that far behind. It was much more difficult for LFY to win but I dont think they could execute Liquid's gameplan the same way even if they wanted to.

It's great, imo, that you have a scale of ideas that can work:
Extremes:
- All-Fighting (stereotypical for SEA) - treats DotA almost as a fighting game, objectives get taken on the basis of fights. - Objective-Based (OG style, when they don't go full illusion DotA) - team plays to take down objectives safely, not give opponent an opening.
VP kind of combines these - they go straight for the objectives, but with a fighting lineup that basically invites the other team to fight them.
- Split-push - play around the other team, stay equal on objectives, build for lategame either with better scaling (or illusions, hi OG) - Focused push (e.g. Liquid's Broodmother strat) where a team focuses their entire strategy on breaking in fast - Been a while, but we still see 4P1 occasionally, too.
CIS and SEA are the "most fun" in a single game, but I love the variety. Imho the most enjoyable team to watch (besides the real Alliance, of course) were TI5/6 MVP Phoenix, jeez what a team <3 TI5/6 Phoenix was a great team to watch. All the balls in the world. Koreans had the most entertaining dota in the world. No, Wings was better to watch. Ah right Wings. I think they share first place.
