Still quadruple the number of any other language I knew at the time, and I still only really know English. My spanish is very broken and that's about it (joys of living in the US). I did decide to learn japanese a few months ago, but that certainly seems way easier than mandarin. | ||

IMO the hardest part about mandarin is that you have to memorise the characters, as it is not the sum of its parts. Most of the time you are unable to infer what the word means by looking at what the character consist of. It is unlike English where say the word 'belittle' can be inferred to be related to the word 'little'. Tone is like the least of your worries imo haha | ||
