I think it could be exciting but it's too fast for a clueless watcher like me to even start to understand what's going on.

To be honest, watching Dota without knowing the game is way worse.

I always found SC2 to be pretty good in that regard, you are able to pick up on most things while watching only a few games.

I don't think there's anyone on earth who really and truly understands what goes on in a game, not even pros

If anyone really understood the game they'd know exactly what goes into, say, teamfights and what choices are necessary at which stages of the game

In reality, even the most skilled players make huge errors with all of this, sometimes drafting unwinnable lineups or not understanding how to use those lineups or taking bad fights and so on and so forth

compare this to, say, bw, where the primary limitation isn't human comprehension but human physical ability

nobody understands dota


People "understand" Dota, but no one has truly "mastered" it.

I mean sure they understand facets of it, but partial understanding is a very different thing

I don't mean to say that total knowledge of dota is 0, that's an obviously absurd claim, but people really don't have a clue about a lot of the game

the entire don't-go-for-rosh deal is a really obvious piece of evidence that even pros lack a real understanding of the game and substitute experience for it

personally I hope liquid make it. They feel more stable than alliance and therefor slightly more scary for EG. Funny thing that both teams have there fair share of signature heroes that needs to be taken care of in the first ban phase. But at least let the games be more intense than the LGD vs EG series.

This intro has gone through the whole progression from "Wow that's pretty cool", "Alright I guess it's almost done", "Oh look AA and WR", "Why did they have to pick AA and WR? Why not 2 mid heroes?"
