Actually, that is exactly my guess on what happened. Previously the first set of games started at 9am pacific iirc, which is quite early for most gamer schedules. I would not be surprised if the pros wanted the games to start a little later.

There were like half the number of series at TI4 at the main event. They used 2-3 extra days to play out what was roughly equivalent of the TI5 schedule. If they didn't change the format back the schedule would have been an improvement but they changed the format back and changed the schedule anyways. After the WB schedule last year, I really wonder about the people Valve has doing the scheduling.

Pitlord, if I recall correctly, was basically a lane pushing, map control master. He has a lot of aoe abilities that let him clear waves quickly and participate in team fights, and his ultimate is basically BoTs for your team. He's actually kind of ridiculous

Obviously they're the gigantic favourite, but they didn't look much more convincing than VP yesterday. + its against iG which in my honest opinion is the worst team standing at that time.

Then the next games start pretty soon right after the previous one ends. Yesterday they had a bunch of 2-1's so the day took close to the maximum time, and in the previous days they had delays due to the internet problems. I don't recall how exactly they did it for TI4, but this schedule seems completely reasonable. You can't exactly start your first games at 8am local time and expect the crowd to arrive there in time and it's also terrible for the players. In general tournaments should imo always run first and foremost so that it's reasonable for the competition and for the onsite spectators. Obviously ideally tournaments want to please online viewers as much as possible as well, but you can't do it all. Exactly, which is why I'm confused at all the Europeans complaining about the schedule. This is a tournament hosted in Seattle and quite frankly, no one cares about your sleeping schedule. Deal with it. When I wanted to watch the 2010 and 2014 world cups, I woke up at 2:30 am and 4:30 am in Beijing to catch the games on TV.

He's actually kind of ridiculous I mean, I'm sure people will find a gimmick to exploit once he's ported but he's always been one of the worst heroes of the game in Dota 1 and was barely picked in competitive for most of the time he was there. The only interesting thing he has currently is that his AOE ensnare pierces BKB.

I'm in SEA, everytime there is a world cup or a dota tournament held in the western place. I would get up at 2am and watch it until the sun rise (and sometimes even until the afternoon, skipping class in the process)

Or atleast weren't there plans to do this?
