Like you'd need the odds after CDEC got through the wildcard for it to be fair/accurate odds.

Because serious talk, logic really sounds: "Which team has more big names and international presence". VG sucked coming into TI5. CDEC were consistent top2 at Chinese tourneys after MDL, and Newbee did not even get to those because they were meeting top teams too early, so their position was somewhat unjudgeable albeit clearly slightly behind EHOME (just based on h2h), while LGD were top 1 Chinese team rather definitely.
EDIT: Ah, wildcard considering CDEC could shift slightly behind, but they would still be above Newbee, really. and LGD would definitely be ahead of VG.

Yes, this was prior to the wildcard. But if they were considered to be on the level of LGD, they would have a 95% chance of winning the wildcard, and their odds wouldn't have changed much.
You are correct though, it does have a bit of an impact. But odds for LGD were like 12 return per dollar, CDEC was like 130 return per dollar.
