Pretty disappointing finals. Every game was a stomp. Mad respect to the winners, but I just liked the games yesterday more.

you seem to forget how navi fountain hooked a clearly superior team out of the tournament!

Oh about that, Newbee being formed out of the ashes of TongFu basically means they also got revenge on Na'vi for last year. I guess justice really does exist.

newbee played well... but VG just threw those games away... worst ti to date. and not just because it was Chinese vs Chinese but because the same draft 3 games in a row didn't work out. Reminds me of sc2 WoL when gsl finals were all cheese. boring. 15 min games with no hopes past 20 minutes.

eh newbee was going pretty even with both DK and iG during june and really smacked them around during may

At a point people did say Newbee is best team in the world, that lasted maybe 1 month, 2 max. But they never had that international presence, etc.

Like even though I wasn't a fan of Alliance, I was happy they won, they shown they were the best. I would be happy if Navi won too, just because I like them, but I was the team who has been showing how incredible they are to win, not just some team that turns it up for the TI4.

That's why I really liked TI3 - I can't comment on other TI's since I started watching Dota 2 at around the point that TI3 started.

Worst TI so far. Well, TI1 might have been worse, but it was a new game then so there was much more hype.

Excited for the post TI reshuffle and I hope next year will be better again!

Plz, if its in the game, its fair game. Its not like the other team didn't know it was an option.

So Navi looking average prior to TI2 and TI3 didn't massively impact how you felt over the finals since you couldn't call them the 2nd best team in the world?

IIRC when NB were formed they all signed 2 years contracts so rather no disbanand soon

yep

Doesn't matter, if one of them decides to retire that's pretty much it. Xiao8's pretty much done everything at this point, there's no reason for Director 8 to stick around.

If he just gets to TI5 ro8, thats a free 100k. Better than a lot of yearly salaries, may as well stick around

well they've only been around for like 5 months, being called the best for 40% of their life is pretty good. pity they didn't dominate any western tournaments before TI as well i guess

NaVi didn't look average prior to TI3, they did prior to TI2 but so do every western team

Sorry, I mentioned that in the one above this one.

Navi is one exception out of all the teams because I am a huge fan boy, and the first TI I saw was TI3, so I can't comment on anything outside of that.

So the scene will be fairly fucked up again in the next 3 or so months because everyone will disband/retire/form new teams. I wanna be honest - I dont care about Newbie at all but if valve keep up the current qualification system we will always have teams or even entire organisations forming around February and going deep in TI. Dunno about valve letting the scene sort itself out anymore...

Disciple, the thing is, what are you supposed to do?

Say there are 12 teams that are on top, all of the sudden 6 new teams form. In the next 3 months they become the best in the scene, absolutely crushing the previous 12 teams.

If you don't invite them, nobody will think that the best Dota 2 team is at the TI4, and people will care a lot less.

this argument didn't relaly make sense anyway since newbee is pretty much a ti3 team with 1 reshuffle

Different name, but also, lets say that happens, my argument does hold.

er i meant disciple's argument, newbee wasn't unknown or new, just a new name on old players

same deal as titan really

I wouldve been extremely happy if newbie were all new previously unknown players bursting through. Thats not my point. My argument was that reforming teams with the same ppl and have basically teams form and get into TI is kinda underwhelming to me and makes it hard to cheer for the teams. If KT rolster disband every year and the same players form new teams every year but say with fantasy or rain or snute coming and going every year would you care about a team competition where 50% or so of the teams are formed like that ? There's very little in terms of brand continuity and team fandom, which was even apparent by the miserable numbers of pennants for both teams in-game
