Dunno about valve letting the scene sort itself out anymore... Disciple, the thing is, what are you supposed to do? Say there are 12 teams that are on top, all of the sudden 6 new teams form. In the next 3 months they become the best in the scene, absolutely crushing the previous 12 teams. If you don't invite them, nobody will think that the best Dota 2 team is at the TI4, and people will care a lot less. this argument didn't relaly make sense anyway since newbee is pretty much a ti3 team with 1 reshuffle But so are most chinese teams in general arent they. My point is that its hard to cheer for the teams and organisations in a team competition and that to me is a problem.

Frankly i'm a little bit shocked. I just wanted more from TI than we got.

I read this somewhere yesterday Most likely, yeah. I don't think that JD or MC have eclipsed over a million USD yet. ... I've said it before and I'll say it again, it just seemed way too top heavy (no matter who won) Either Valve should have distributed it more evenly to all teams, or just pocket it and set a limit for 1st place Look at every tournament in SC2, Smash, Fighting games that is not WCS. ALL their top distributions reward more money to the top 4 than TI4. And weirder still considering how locked in the top 3 were. I understand the need for flexibility but I think at least losers bracket final could have been Bo5 as well.
Pretty underwhelming TI. Some great games but lacked the feel of last year; then again I was freshly converted by the tournament last year.

That's the sad part actually. They had the chance to experiment or alter their strategies but they didn't. if you saw how mediocre VG looked before TI though, it might be that they just sucked otherwise. in scrims, DK and Newbee were smacking them 80% winrate
That was the imminent reality I didn't want to face... Everytime they faced, a few weeks prior to TI4, Newbee always was the favourite to win over VG. But maybe, just maybe, with the great run VG had at the beginning, something might have changed...

Every team that I cheered for lost the game and this year's international shows that the western teams are again not as resilient, patient nor methodical in their dota, so the chinese dominated.
Chinese style is now like the 1-1-1 Terran from Starcraft. They hit a good timing with a pushing lineup, and a teamfight backup hero so once their push starts it's very hard to stop them.
This grand final shows us that Xiao8 is one of the best drafters in the world and takes teams out before the game even begins. Games 2, 3 and 4 were decided at the draft phase.
People will say it's anticlimatic, but remember it's not for the show. Those guys are there for the money, and that is all that matters for them.
Congratulations Newbee.

Also Newbee forming in Feb wasn't just for TI--Chinese New Year holiday is the only real "off-season" time for China that makes sense for major roster changes.

Hm, not the exciting games I was hoping for. Every match so fast and onesided.
