Perhaps Grand Finals with BO3 would be feasible in this case...

Then have a single elimination bracket if you can't go all the way and are going to pussy out at the end, duh?

Bo5s would be preferred but Bo3s might work, you can't do half-assed shit like this in a tournament this prestigeous.

No, I agree with you. What if say LGD beats iG in winner's final, then iG beats whoever in LB final. LGD are not rewarded at all for initially beating iG, it is not relevant to LGD if iG are better than whoever is in LB final. They deserve a one game advantage, screw whatever people think is exciting. There is a ton of money at stake here.

LGD are awarded a spot in the finals....

If all you want is fairness, you do a big group with everyone playing every team twice. They had the time to do it, but there is a reason why they didn`t. It`s a spectator sport more than anything, so the excitement of double/single elimination makes it a much better tournament. The same thing happens in the finals. The "fair" thing would be to do 2 bo3`s where the WB team only has to win one, but that has a much bigger chance of becoming a really boring final set. So they put the excitement above the fairness. It`s the same thing sports leagues like NFL do, there is nothing wrong with it. As long as it doesn`t become unfair, instead of "less fair". It is thin line and everyone has an opinion on it, but don`t pretend fairness is the only thing the matters.

If they just let iG and LGD play a Bo5 for the finals because they were clearly the better team of each group, afterall the beat everyone else in a completelly fair enviroment, it would be a bad tournament. Worse, but more fair than even double elimination.

Don`t pretend winning the WB finals is not better than losing it and having to play the LB finals. It clearly is, so it`s an advantage, even if it is smaller than starting 1-0.

I understand that giving the winners bracket team an advantage may result in more games, and a longer finals. But they should get some sort of advantage as a reward for not having lost a match in their bracket. Having a team from the loser's bracket stand an equal shot of winning as a team in the winner's bracket just doesn't seem right to me.

Have you ever played in a tournament with money on the line and been in the finals ( Note I have multiple times)

It's not an award, they earned it. When you go to the loser's bracket, it's not a punishment, it's "oh my god I'm so happy I have another chance and I'm not dead right away".

When you go into the finals after BEATING YOUR OPPONENT ONCE you're not happy if it's going to be an even fight and your previous victory was flushed down the toilet.

Saying it's tiring is ridiculous, what do you think about a tournament where the only disadvantage for losing is that you're forced to go for a 10 minute jog? (They should do this, screw losers bracket)

A spot they deserved anyway... but at 0:0 against a team they beat? The have essentially no advantage to show for going undefeated all the way.

But then iG has to beat the losers bracket winners in a best of 3...
A bo3 and a bo5 are totally different beasts imo. Winning a bo3 should not = advantage in bo5

I'm not sure why are you going on such a long rant in the LR thread. Make separate post if you feel so strongly about it. People would like to watch games now.
