To quote MTW.Aether's words from WC3: "If you have 300 ping you just have to do everything 0.3 seconds earlier. EZPZ". It was just a joke, but in reality it's more about getting used to it. When AL had the australian team, they had some decent games even playing at terrible pings. It's definatelly better to play with no latency, but if you are used to it, it can definatelly be bearable. It can be pretty annoying if you are not used to it though, not sure how often NA teams practice on EU.

Well, if you want to take part in any online tournaments with international range you bloody well should practice for the eventuality of having high pings and learning how to deal with it or get accustomed to it. Seems to me like a part of being a progamer. A big part of success is being consistent, regardless of various outside factors. If they complain it just gets worse for them because the viewers will lose interest.

Someone that always has 300 ping will be used to it and won't complain about it. The problem is that tournaments have wildly inconsistent server rules and of course nobody will want to play on the server they have the most lag on.

Ping is a real physical factor but like anything else it's the player responsibility to manage and mitigate it. Playing 300ms when you are used to 100ms can be very jarring but if the tournament conditions are like that it's the players responsibility to be ready for it, and not just complain. People used to colder weather will not play the best when it's hot and vice/versa. People not used to being watched/in LAN conditions suffer for it. There is no technical solution to online tournaments being affected by ping differentials. Either get used to it or don't play those tournaments (or propose a solutions which allows us to transport data faster than the speed of light).
