i don't want to judge if it was "fair" or not, but damn it that was the most entertaining game i've seen in a long time and the "fountain hook" trick does seem hard to pull off so kudos for it. i really dunno why a lot of ppl hate on the strat....you can see it coming, you can ban for it.
orly?

1 hook, main carry + aegis gone immediately. No way to fight back. ya, that's not unfair right? It's bullshit no matter how you see it.

This

what? lol
pudge hook is a skillshot. they knew that threat was there
they decided to take the risk, and it didnt work out for them

it was a high risk high reward play for both teams
if pudge missed hook, then TF would have killed a couple heroes, raxed probably, and won game from there maybe

if pudge landed hook, then they nullify the presence of aegis

what is so hard to understand??
You can type "StarCraft" with just your left hand.

to be honest that was reaally hard to pull of since you have to time the hook with the chen tp ...

Not only is it hard to pull off, it is incredibly risky, if you try that hook tp combo and miss, you are leaving your team to fight 5v4, as well as losing chen's sendback which may have helped you not lose the game out of the lopsided teamfight.

It is extremely risky and should only be attempted if you are far behind + Show Spoiler +
Or far enough ahead you can just mess around
and Navi took a huge risk and it succeded

In the end, 2.8 million is at stake, this isn't just a pub match everyone have fun.
Once is an accident. Twice is coincidence. Three times is an enemy action. Bus Driver can never target themselves I'm sorry

After watching that. Yea, fountain-hooking should probably be fixed.

That said: its allowed, its a crowd pleaser, it looks really cool. WP Navi.

I can guarantee though that if this becomes a common strategy theres gonna be lots of calls for fixing it. This is the typical kind of strategy that is fun the first and second time, not the 50th (SC2 achon toilets says hello. That was also awesome first few times).

dont ban either hero you get what you deserve

until this crap is nerfed. this is the new DOTA meta

seriously, every pro player in the international can hit those fountain hooks they take SKILL to land but every team has that skill i believe.. i garuntee fountain hooks will be ALOT more common, until pro players catch on and ban chen every game. however likely this may happen very quickly because i garuntee tongfu will be banning one of those heroes every game from now on

He's mad.

his right. This is a competitive game. This type of bullshit shouldnt be allowed, especially for a competitive game like Dota 2

hey guys let's ban out all unconventional hero combos because a few crybabies on TL don't like it!

the hook and chen skill for 1 kill, dont you think that is abit unfair?

No, it isn't really that good. It also takes the pudge out of the fight (remember towers are down later in game) and he is a mid hero. So you better trade for a carry.

It's relatively low risk for extremely high reward. Pudge has no risk to die, and once towers are down later in the game any fountain hook attempts on Navis side had very very low risk since he doesn't have to go far or TP. On the other hand once it hits late game once you hit a hook you basically win. Can't fault them for using it but it's pretty broken (though admittedly hard to pull off).

Low risk? If they miss they have to 4v5 till pudge comes back, TF was running instead of actually pushing the engage

Na'vi was doing it because they couldn't 5v5...or even win a fight off of a good Hook initiation.

Frankly, if you're far behind and you have a Pudge and Chen, you would be stupid not to repeatedly try fountainhooking. If you're not going to fight the enemy team regardless, then keep trying for a OHKO with no risk to Pudge or Chen.
Average means I'm better than half of you.

Why does it matter if it's hard... it's very low risk, you just send your pudge back home and try again. They literally tried it 30 times, has nothing to do with skill just luck.

It's only NaVi, because of Dendi. You won't see this from any other team.

they're the same people who complain about cheese in BW/SC2, basically people who have never actually played a video game in their life and live to complain about how others player games

I bet anyone here who would be in Navi's shoes would use that technique to have a shot to win 1.4 million dollars.

Anyone disagree?

The issue is that once you have the timing down (and don;t fool yourself they will practice it now that they've seen it works) and suddenly it's going force pudge permabans because it oneshots any hero and goes through shit like aegies and BKB.

I tend to be towards the bottom, you play to win, I mean how many cheese outs have we seen in major SC2 games? Tons

I have yet to see any 'creative special strategies' in SC2 where if you can time 2 abilities well you one shot the enemy army.

Every argument that 'this is hard' are ridiculous. It's not hard for the best players in the world since they do this every day all the time.
