The equivalent to mass cannon -> carrier in SC. You'll still enjoy it, and you'll learn it as you play. The heroes/items come quite quickly, but they aren't requirements to have fun with the game, IMO. It's also a very fun part of learning dota, you discover op combos, items every game.

I'm not sure if it was 'intended' as in they were fine with the gameplay mechanics, or that the developers thought it was funny and decided to leave it in. Alot of semi-pros/pros were pretty upset with the way Na'vi won against Tongfu, and many were pretty disgusted actually (Loda in particular). I'm sure they were extremely upset when they realized that the fountain hooks were actually invisible. From the links posted on the last page, valve has not problem with the hooks and only has issue with the visual bug.

Figuring out why the fuck you keep dieing when there's an enemy Bloodseeker despite you running away from him is a pretty important experience. =P

To be fair its not really THAT hard, just start with some "easy" heroes like Sniper, Drow, Lich, Spirit Breaker, Ursa maybe to learn the mechanichs of the game (Last hit, deny, items, tp, etc...) and when you get enough "knowledge" out of the game you may try some other ones
You seriously suggesting for a new player to start with sniper, drow, ursa?
I cannot even imagine the amount of harass he will get after he feeds a few kills.
But again, just give two fucks and enjoy the game.

If you're new to Dota2. Avoid Invoker, Visage, Wisp, Timbersaw, Meepo and a few others.

Read the posts, the developers thought it was 'too hilarious to fix' but it will 100% likely be reviewed, especially from such negative feedback from pro players. Just because something is 'hard' doesn't mean it should kill you instantly no matter how much farm you have.

LOL didnt think about that actually, but Sniper and Drow are basic, the problem are the "pro" players that play Dota 2 pubs

Go away. :< I like Burning as a player very much, I shed a tear when DK lost. But as a human if the man wants his freedom, I would be the last man to force him to continue.

no i'm not. intended would mean valve implemented fountain hook directly as a port from dota 1 which they did not. the mechanics for fountain hooking in dota 1 and 2 are completely different. there's a huge difference between "yeah this is the effect we wanted" vs. "oh someone found you could do that? lolol. cool. not a bug".

Great finals ! The best team won, navi might be more flashy and probably more lucky through this whole tourney but alliance were the better team and clutch when it matters.
Somehow survived through every game and not falling asleep on the last day, no chinese boring games was a plus too .

If you think that Navi throwed the game you need some more Dota 2 time Navi actually outplayed Alliance the whole game till the million dollar Dream Coil (aside from Dendi dying at Rosh). Then they loss whatever advantage they had from that moment. There was little chance Alliance would win if the Dream Coil didn't happen. How about first Rosh? If by first Rosh you mean the one where Dendi died and Puck got Aegis, then I have already mentioned it above. You have said about Dendi dying, I was talking about his teammates. It was Alliance who outplayed NaVi from that moment till the end of the game. But they werent really snowballing Alliance, they just got a "decent" lead (i say that in quotations because that lead only need a good Alliance team fight to be almost 0) that was completely countered with that Rosh + team fight
It was a good lead. Not just decent, but rather strong lead. Alliance had little answer to Dendi. Xboct was getting bigger and bigger. They would have to play against an Enigma as well. Sure Alliance may not be entirely out, but the odds are against them. Alliance still cannot win Navi in teamfights unless they mass buybacks. That's where Alliance are very clutch as well I must admit, because throughout the tournament their mass buybacks into winning teamfights always leads to either Rosh or towers/Raxes.

i'm happy that it wasn't a 3-0 stomp. navi proved they can go toe to toe with alliance. it could've gone either way.

Luckily for new comers, they'll have a lot of things simplified for them, with Dota 2's easier to use interface and tutorials. Us Dota 1 players really had to learn the hard way ;p.

Great finals.
Although Na'Vi lost in the GF again, 1 game from winning. This year really does belong to Alliance. I'm not upset they got 2nd but that's ok. At least for me, Na'Vi has proved themselves year end and year out for being one of the best consistently. And that in itself is fine with me.
Besides, which other team can boost their TI record? Winning TI1, 2nd in TI2, and 2nd in TI3 (a TI that everyone gave Alliance the win from the get go.)
But... Congrats Alliance! I'm hoping Na'Vi finds their 2nd TI championship soon.
Btw does anyone know like in game, does Na'Vi have that Aegis thing in their fountain as well? I been meaning to ask and I keep forgetting until now.

As I stated, it's almost certain it's going to be changed. Multiple pro players have gone on record stating that they are against fountain hooking. Even Puppey in his own interview stated that the Pudge/Chen combination is abit 'hardcore' so even he sounds like he's not exactly sold on it being in the game, just that they used it because they had to and it was allowed.

Hvost was way too far behind, he was farming cheap team fight items so that they could go fight and end the game. He was basically a non factor that game. Dendi became the 1 position after Hvost got screwed on the bottom lane even with his great play of somehow beating a tri-lane for a little bit.
