I think you kinda underestimate how much it increases farming speed if you use illusions properly though. But the hero is pretty lackluster either way, has a hard time fighting even with an item advantage. And anything he does a Naga does twice as good. Btw 12min radi PL is like super super early. Yeah, they were good at last hitting and got them some kills but they skiped boots and all.

So its awful vs say an offlane dark seer who you can't particularly link and who will force u to have regen etc, but its super good vs an OD mid who can't interact with you if you link him and punish him.

A sick 22-24 minutes diffusal + HoT is way better imo and straight out wins the game. I've lost two games while providng some 12 minutes radiance on PL and it really sets him back. What is the reasonning behind this? It's an old build from before the 4.2 agi buff. It boosts the farm but IMO for that 5k gold you could've had Drums+Diffusal which is somewhat slower for farming (though not too slow) and it lets you teamfight much earlier, much better. With the Agi buff, farming with Diffusal got much better. that being said a minute 12 Radiance on fucking ANYONE should be amazing, even KotL. You just walk aroudn the map and things die. What I've seen some PL players do with a <15 minute Radiance though is just march all their illusions down a single lane. NO. That's not how you fucking do it, you send one illusion to each camp in the jungle in order to farm everything you humanly can. But...Naga is much better for this since she doesn't rely on luck for her illusions, with better teamfighting and early game presence. Terrorblade is also better for this since, again, illusions are more consistent. I've seen iceiceice get 30 minutes 6slotted on TB with a minute 14~ Radiance. TL;DR - it's bad, go for vlads&yasha/drums&diffusal since I'm on a roll - the popular Weaver build used to be Radiance, until people realized that UAM applies to both his attacks. Basically Radiance is shit unless you're Naga, Spectre or Lone Druid.

In dota 1 geminate blocked all UAMs even on non-geminate attacks so deso didn't work at all on him.

Could've sworn there was a change. Oh well, guess Radiance Weaver just straight up fell out because of the early game meta.

There was a change. The change was: UAMs proc on the first attack, which they didn't in Dota 1. They kept that change. Deso happens to functionally work on both because there are essentially no situations where the second attack doesn't hit during the deso debuff duration. Hence it being popular. Also Radiance rush weaver may or may not have been attached to vanguard weaver which obviously sucks and radiance rushing in general got a lot worse as teams basically got better at timings etc. Weaver's kinda an awful radiance hero since it doesn't solve his mana issues or his "burstability" issues. And radiance after 1st item is sorta just always bad iunno.

Great mobility is a good fit for radiance and Weaver has ok survivability and good teamfight presence with shukuchi. It's a lot of "if"s though to get radiance first and in any kind of semi-organized play its not worth it compared to deso/linkens builds.

And radiance after 1st item is sorta just always bad iunno. It didn't suck when Vanguard was an OP item pre-6.73, which is where most Radiance-based builds originated. And Weaver doesn't really have mana issues that can't be solved by most early regen items (Aquila, Bottle, Urn, or Medallion)--it's just that Linken lets you skimp on those with your Ultimate Orb/Perseverance which ultimately speeds up your major items thanks to not spending 600-1k gold on early-game focused items if you're going to play the hero like a rat-farmer and not a fighting hero. Even in DotA 1, there was already a transition toward fight-oriented non-Radiance builds once 6.73 hit and Vanguard wasn't efficient enough to be a good fighting item even for ranged heroes anymore (and the OP Tranquil Boots took over their early regen value. Radiance actually works with Weaver's engagement pattern just fine (you spend 4 out of every 6 seconds invis and not attacking and attack primarily on Geminate CD until you have BKB or Heart to actually give you the defensive stats to manfight things straight-up), so it really wasn't all that bad. The thing is, Deso just flat-out changes how the hero plays. Deso is powerful enough that it allow you to get it second after an item that gives you almost no contribution to your damage-dealing ability (Linken's) and still be impactful. None of the alternative damage options have that much singular impact at the time you'd get them as a 2nd item--Linken->MKB, Linken->Crit, and Linken->Radiance are all really really shitty. As such, you couldn't even play the hero that way in DotA 1. Either you needed to get a Radiance and farm for either Radiance+BKB fight timing or a 3rd item Radiance+Heart+damage item timing--or you needed to get fighting items (Urn, Aquila, Medallion, Yasha, early BKB, etc.) and hopefully snowball into your damage item. Linken Weaver as it exists in DotA 2 sucked in DotA 1 because there simply was no 2nd item that could make it be impactful at that point.

You either get an inherent damage advantage that allows you to control the lane or force your opponent away which means the same thing, really. If "against OD" is a valid argument, then I'd say against Viper. Razor just flat out kills Viper if he gets boots. He battles the (imo) stupid laning heroes by being situationally even more stupid.
