Can you still disable backdoor protection by tethering a creep as wisp and teleporting it into the enemies base?

I think they fixed that. What I don't know if they fixed is if you have a creep in their base, tether that back to your fountain and then when you pop back if it'll stay put and disable bd protection.

5 armor and 8 hp regen is really big on the bear since it has so much hp
but honestly i think people build armlet way more than they should

Armlet on an actual hero is totally different because of the +24 Strength. The comparison I was making was relevant only to the Spirit Bear because the Spirit Bear doesn't gain the Strength (but also doesn't suffer the HP degen).

Armlet on the bear is more for a straight midgame push I feel when you have wave clear. A maelstrom still gives you that midgame power but also gives you waveclear which helps you farm faster in downtime and if you lack waveclear on your team to push harder.

Also, there's nothing wrong with getting both of them - they're both really cost-efficient DPS items on the bear and even though armlet is comparatively a bit worse than maelstrom, it's still a really good item on the bear, even if you've already got the maelstrom (even more so, since you don't have the excuse of 'maelstrom is a better choice' any more =P).

That's kind of what I thought too, but then I saw it done a couple of times in pro games and it seemed to work out pretty well so I feel like there's more value to it than you would expect.

Merlini just did a mailbag on this. Armlet is better for towers and bkb since chain lightning doesn't do anything

If the main hit misses, then nobody will be cleaved. However, if you're only being hit by the cleave, you can't dodge the cleave effect.

The exception is, as always, Void's Backtrack, because it acts as a triggered heal on damage instances taken and not real evasion.

Makes sense. Same idea with midgame Desolator to help push the towers down to press your advantage.

Are there any tricks for TA's meld?

I'm having major issues judging her tiny attack range. If I get it wrong, she just walks out of meld to attack them and it's wasted.

No tricks whatsoever. Her 3rd ability Psi Blades increases her attack range by 60 per level. So that means for normal TA builds like 4-4-1 you'll be at 200 range until level 11-13. Consider it a tad more than melee range. Your best bet pre-blink is to phase boot toward your target, and then trap slow and phase literally on top of them (or as close as you can get) and then meld. That pretty much ensures you hitting a meld attack 1 on 1. Same theory applies w/o Phase if you go Treads or have just regular boots.

All i can say is get used to it by practicing TA more. I started out with the same issue too, then after more games with TA it gets easier to judge.

A simple way is to always be next to the enemy(within 300range) before meld hitting...it has the bonus effect of guaranteeing you at least 2 hits at the enemy instead of just 1 meld hit at the edge of your range

how does armor work?

Say if I have 20 armor, a TA attacks me with 200 damage, i only receive 180 damage?
