My way to play supports on pubs is to harass, stack one or two times, get boots and wards, then leave your lane and go kill people. Contrary to the popular belief, most supports are great gankers, and if you position well you can kill a lot of heroes, which gives you gold for more support items and delays the progress of enemy team. As far as teamfighting go, dying is not a big issue as long as you use all your spells beforehand. If you can afford it, ghost scepter is a great solution for DPS heroes, but i also recommend a force staff or eul's scepter. Force staff is cheaper and provides a an escape/chase mechanism, eul's gives you a disable, and enough invulnerability to survive the initial teamfight mess. Also, play Shadow Demon, he doesn't need any of these items because of Disruption, and is the most badass support in the game :D

Besides that I have no idea how good swarm is lol Generally I would say always max swarm with one in germinate. Germinate only becomes really good when you get items and by the time you have those items you'll have enough levels to have maxed germinate. Swarm is amazing in engagements if you use it correctly. Many people start with swarm so the bugs get killed really fast. Instead what you should try do is time it so you cast swarm in such a way that they are fighting with the bugs still on them.

Geminate is useful for laning (lower CD means its up more often to harass with) so some people get more than 1 rank for that. It's also better later when you have items and expect to do stand-and-fight damage in certain situations. But midgame, when you're using Shukuchi on CD, Geminate ranks don't increase your in-fight DPS beyond rank 1 because rank 1 already lets you use one Geminate per Shukuchi cast.

Lion Gyro I think Lina's Agh upgrade is actually kinda OK when u factor in the stats, but I'd say there are usually better things on her as well

He rarely, if ever, messes around in games. He tries his best, although his item builds aren't necessarily something a low level player could use effectively.

I dunno, I saw aui play with merlini once and he was trying really hard not to flame Merlini's build (radiance rush on centaur) but every 10 seconds he'd mention how much easier the game would be if merlini would just buy a blink. He tries really hard not to offend/flame but he is still willing to share a different viewpoint on item choices and playstyles.

I'd say almost all of the Agh's upgrades are situationally good, but on the whole people prioritize them too highly. E.g. even "good" Aghanim's upgrades like Pugna and Clockwerk should be seen as capstone utility pieces, and not as core items, compared to more fundamental items like Mek and Sheep. So they're all noob traps in a way.

Agh's is superior AoE teamfight damage and pushing power (the CD reduction on QoP ult with Agha brings it low enough that you can afford to use it to clear a large creep wave). Sheep is superior solo-killing ability, ganking, and disabling power. One of them isn't clearly better than the other--there are games where each one is appropriate.
