When you're playing a game, and you look around, if you're just standing in mid, you're accomplishing nothing, go somewhere and farm, or make a push and a pickoff happen, moments spent standing around are moments not spent farming and getting more items up.

In HoN, Ophelia, the equivalent to Chen, her creeps can "deny" themselves with a skill in their ulti slot. Any way to do this on Chen? No, not the way you describe it. It'd be lame anyway. You can deny them normally when they are low hp, get a new creep (oldest one will die), send them to ancients/rosh etc.

Otherwise, just get it below half and kill it.

I feel like there's an awkward window around 15:00-25:00 where most of the T1s are down and the lanes don't feel safe unless they're pushed, and most pubs tend to kind of just awkwardly mill around mid for five minutes, waiting for a teamfight. If I join them I tend to fall horribly behind in levels and farm, but if I farm lanes I push them and risk being ganked, and if I jungle I'm usually competing with void or whoever the hard hard carry is. Obviously there must be some way to do it, but I'm too noob to work it out. Plenty of space in the usual pub game. Also if your Void has the least amount of sense he would take lanes every moment he can, because jungle is for poor people. Jungle gives nice exp but bad gold. One creepwave of 4 melee, 1 ranged creeps gives roughly the same gold as 2 creep camps. But there are only 5 non-ancient camps in the jungle in any minute, and 2 creep waves on lane per minute. The twist is that properly last hitting on a lane for 1 minute gives the same gold as farming the entire jungle in one minute. A good approach is to go towards the lane, clear the neutral camp closest to the lane, then do 1, 2 or, if you are very brave, 3 creep waves on the lane and go back to the jungle. Keep an eye on the minimap. If you see any enemies moving towards your lane(say you're top lane and you see an enemy who was in middle lane now moving top) then keep lasthitting for 5 seconds, move into the trees and tp away. That's the safest way to go about it. You can try be cute and do more greedy stuff but don't complain when you get your learning experiences* handed to you. *getting killed

I'm not an expert by any means, but even so by pushing that TP to mid out a few seconds later or pushing a lane that 1 creep wave more then TPing away (if you have to) makes a big difference in XP/Gold. It's really important to remember how cheap TP scrolls are when you last hit well (3-4 last hits). Just bounce around and be more mobile in a passive-aggressive way in general. Even if you don't make out with the most amazing XP/Gold gain in that period, if the enemy is running all around to push you out of the lanes you're extending into then they're not doing other more productive things (so long as you don't actually get ganked). Yes, that is true... sad that not that many players use TPs

True, but from what I've seen of every newer (or even just mediocre long term) player I've ever witnessed their problem is always being too conservative with TP scrolls not too liberal. Obviously don't TP steal farm and things like that, but my advice is to start erring on the side of TPing too often rather than not enough. You may screw up and TP at a bad time now and then, but that's a lesson learned you can improve on in the future. If you're conservative with the TP scrolls you're going to end up never learning those lessons and adding in the appropriate amount of TPing is going to be harder. Even if the gold gain is the same as walking to the lane, you're going to get more XP by TPing. It's sort of like making drones in Starcraft. There's a whole host of situations where you don't want to drone, but it's better to start with a default of drone all the time everytime and then back down from that with experience.

TP is an insanely good escape mechanism if you have just a bit of game sense. In general its just a good mobility tool and when there is a fight between your mates and enemies remotely close to a tower its always a good idea to tp there to help. If your team is winning the fight, you will win it harder. If your team is escaping safely, you can possibly countergank. If your team is dying, you can help them escape. This last part applies obviously less heavily for the teamfight gimped heroes. For example a bloodseeker will almost never turn around a 3v2 even under your tower. A warlock or disruptor can turn around pretty much any fight though, if played competently.
