Armlet is typically used with heroes that have high enough inherent healing/lifesteal to use the item (Naix, Skeleton King, Huskar being the big 3). Lifesteal and Heart are situational item choices for those heroes, but typically you expect Armlet to be self-sustaining for those heroes.

You would almost never want to go for lifesteal on Naix/SK, while you want it badly on Huskar (at least if you want to carry the game). About Armlet, it's usually not worth it unless you are really good at abusing it, with a few exceptions.

He phrased it in a weird way and I commented on it to avoid new players misunderstanding him.

It would work on open wounds though.

Oh nevermind, the Vlads bonus damage only applies to "base damage and damage from attribute points." according to the wiki.

I'm assuming you want your trilane postured defensively. Ranged 600 default stun/heavy slow works. Basically just somebody who can effectively zone. Heroes like Venomancer can work as well, but don't fit as well into today's metagame. If against an enemy trilane, clickable AOE stun and/or nuke--perhaps Rubick or Nyx (just because both are great). Supportive Windrunner can work as well due to excellent damage (boosted by Lunar Blessing) and an amazing skillset. In this case you're just waiting on your Chen to find good creep (I'm looking at you Trolls) since trilanes with Chen are generally weaker than other off-lane trilanes (since they generally want to kill things and Chen isn't around 100% of the time). Despite generally having only a Bottle for HP-regeneration purposes, Armlet carries the 25 STR (475 HP and 25 damage) to illusions as well. With Heart generally on Chaos Knight as well that provides you the regeneration later in the game (just leave the Armlet on). Oftentimes CK will have a Wisp with him as well for a healing battery.

You can also use it for chasing enemy heroes after a good fight with great effect. After the rework nerf from stun into 100% slow, it's not as good of an initiation tool. Yes, you put your team into a situation where they are right on top of the enemy team. Yet, that may not be where you want them to be (for instance, you don't want to be in close when your team is more mid/long-range while the enemy team consists of close-range combatants). The damage and slow duration aren't that exceptional (1.25 seconds and 1/2/3x STR) to make Stampede a good initiating technique in larger fights. Stampede seems most useful for chasing or fleeing as it is right now.

edit- and riki's ult is disabled by any silence, I think those are the only two exceptions to that rule, could be a little off though.

When do you know when you should start picking heroes instead of randoming every game? By suggestion of some people here on TL I started random APing every game to try to see every hero. When do you know when you're in a spot where you should be deliberatley picking your heroes? Mostly people aren't that good on the games I'm playing (except maybe 1 or 2 key players) so for right now I think I'm still good randoming, but I thought I'd ask

To answer your question though; you should feel like if you randomed anyone you could play them confidently before you start picking specific heroes based on the lineups. That way you'll have a sense for when each hero might be useful to the team, and if you identify a specific hero or several heroes which fulfill whatever role/hero your team needs you'll be able to play it yourself.
