If not, errrrrr not sure, highest MMR maybe? If I remember correctly each stack gets treated as an entity that gets an even % chance at being captain. e.g. if you queue as 4 you have a 50% of having your stack leader to be captain. Actually that doesn't mean it's not related to MMR either. I just definitely remember lots and lots of arguing about 4 stacks having the captain way less than 4/5th of the time.

About last hitting. Any advice in how to get used to it (or just learn it) without going insane? I feel the entire game changed when I focus on it. I couldn't get any map awareness cause it took so much attention, and I failed like 60% even then, which didn't produce much joy. And occassionally I even lose track of the mousepointer, which makes a part of me outraged..Probably because of extreme tunnelvision. Do you guys become so used to last hitting, that it feels automatic, so you can pay attention to all the other wonderful aspects of the game?

If you are walking around with your mouse to stop the cast animation you shouldn't lose track of your mouse cursor. Otherwise just spam the stop button and glance at the minimap while the creeps are above 50% health.

When you do it enough you'll get used to it, and eventually you won't have to focus on it as much because last hitting will feel like reflex. You can also try to host bot games and go mid with a hero like shadow fiend for practice. Question: What's the most standard build for a carry-ish gyrocopter? I go phase boots --> ring (I've seen pros do both phase and treads, but I prefer phase boots more) ---> wand, but I'm not sure what item to get at this point. I've been trying manta style, but I feel like the illusions are incredibly weak and do little damage that early. Seems like I should be getting a damage item first, then manta later so the illusions actually do damage and don't feel like paperweights. My build at the end is usually manta / BKB / MKB. Also how viable is shadow blade? I've seen Korok build it on gyro a few times, but it still feels like a rare item for the hero

Shadowblade is a good alternative to Manta for ganking/solo-killing. Butterfly is generally a higher priority than MKB unless the other team has Evasion/miss chance you have to deal with.

Always thought they were more for supports or str heroes.

Always thought they were more for supports or str heroes. Drums are not for supports or strength heroes at all. It's pretty much one of the most cost-effecient items in the game and having multiple drums on one team isn't even bad. For heroes that plan to fight early on cost-effecient items are key. That's why Tranquil boots, drums, ring of aquila into BKB has become such standard item progression for luna for 5-man doto. Janggos goes with everything.

Examples are Luna, PL, and sometimes Spectre when you find yourself spamming dagger a bit more.

Homing Missile isn't practical as a harass spell because you need a situation where it won't get killed, Rocket Barrage isn't that good to spam unless you're in positions where you can control the positioning for a few targets (you're doing it wrong if you're using it to farm), and Flak Cannon is low cost/medium-long CD.
