Lv6-7 and during night time is the phase where pudge likes to roam around and gank so do be extra careful especially if you are a squishy hero and you should be fine.

Block your creep very well and pudge will have problems if you're ranged. Viper can make him miserable. But the best pub counter to pudge is beastmaster. Especially when he gets level 3 hawk, you can follow pudge while he's trying to hide in the trees/uphill, detect when he tps in when you're pushing, and you roar him if an ally ever gets hooked. If you get medallion he dies so fast with his lack of armor. You can also position your boar in between you and pudge while you lane, and when he wards you can get a gem and kill it with your boar safely.

There are only a limited number of spots where a butcher can reasonably hook from. Learn hooks length and stay a hooks length away from hiding spots. Position yourself so creeps are between you and the expected hook direction. When lasthitting in lane constantly move without repeating a pattern. That´s good against any kind of skillshot and should be done to some point out of lane too. When he goes towards you, run away with changing directions that would fit into a V. ↖↑↗ If you try to evade too much he can just run up to you and bite you. If you make this kind of movement a habit of yours, butcher becomes just a fat, ugly hero with a melee disable and an unreliable hook. Works with all heroes(better with more movespeed).

You have a lot more armor, so you can harass him in lane as soon as possible. When you hit 3 you can void him a few times with your bottle. Then he can't really do much. You should get bottle + boots + urn faster than him. He could contest the first 3runes but will die if he tries to contest the fourth one (night time) During the night pudge is absolute food for you.

The buffs to basically everything he does makes him significantly better. Is it best to go radiance with him or some of the other damage items (like mjollnir)? Should you go buriza after that or heart to make you even tankier? The answer for your question is situational from game to game. If you can farm up a quick radiance and your team can hold out 4v5 until you do so, then go ahead. If you need more damage with push, go mjollnir. If you need more direct damage, go daedalus. If you need true hit, get mkb. If the opponents have lots of disables, go bkb. If they have a lot of physical damage, go AC. If you need more HP overall, get heart.

Bkb most of the times. I feel that you should get crits after ac/bash. Don't listen to fb, hes bad. *whispers* Listen to me.

Early-Mid game items: Wand(1), Pick 2 of these: Drums, Medallion, Aquila, Urn Late game: Monkey King Bar, Crit. Some argue Deso, I say a medallion does that job adequately. (With Swarm -armor it can get too much, where it does less for you. Past 0 Armor, reduction drops in effectiveness. Of course, if your farm is great 14-16 minute Radiance is optimal. If not, go the above mid-game fight route and make sure to crush face and not be passive. Ganks are great, max movespeed invisible flying Spider? Yes please. *Edit* - Yeah, Urn is a pretty common item on a lot of mid heroes. (NS, Pudge, Exort Voker) Two of these is a no-no. I personally just go Treads, then depending on how the laning phase is going, if I'm forced to buy Basil then I'll finish Aquila otherwise skip it. Drums, then Medallion.

I did a quick calculation and it seems very low, below start hp for most heroes. 494 if we assume 0 start armor, 604 if we assume 5 armor. Basically armor is always better against *only* physical. Can someone verify this, it´s been while since I mathed around.
