Skill-wise, I'd get Whirling Death first to ensure last hits then Reactive Armour to make sure I have some form of regen during fights. After that, it's either a level 2 on whirling death or 1 on timberchain based on how the lane is going.
Item wise, I'll get a stick (and a wand if applicable) first with some regen. Or should I just get a stick and some branches and rush bottle?
How would you guys build Timbersaw for a 1v1 mid? Do it sidelane if possible (no pulling/runes allowed), timber vs timber is pretty dull and stupid mid. Nope. Not possible. Hahahaha. That's why we're doing mid, it's for fun only. Actually the first thing we thought of was 1v1 Crystal Maiden mid.
Think I'd go something like bottle soulring basi then. I mean the lane is a complete stalemate until lvl 6 and even after that, it's kind of impossible to go for a kill (ie. chain into his tower) until you have levels in timberchain and a pushed lane. So go for the build that gives you the best spam/push, collect runes and dive him with creeps when you see an opportunity.
Also hope he doesn't do the same or this 1v1 might take a while. :D

EDIT: How about the skill build?

Just 4-0-2-1 into maxing timberchain.

I think I can't improve on dota anymore, I played for like 7 years, on and off, I have like 1000 games on dota 2, but feels like I can't change my mentality or some shit, I think it also doesn't help that each month I play even less than the last.
I think because I grew up playing on garena where everyone REALLY sucked I learned to play the game always walking in the edge line, but since the early days of dota 2 when I start playing with a better matchmaking system it seems that my mentality of being aggressive and always pushing my enemies to do mistakes, trying to outsmart everyone, etc. really caused me trouble.
Nowadays every time I go to a lane, with a friend, or try to solo mid and die 1 or 2 times I just can't stop fucking up for like 10/15 minutes, and if my team doesn't carry me when I'm on the low I pretty much lose the game because of feeding. A good example is this match https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1676513467 (i'm invoker), I'm not good at mid, and I've not being playing the game for some time, but this is not excuse to keep fucking up imo.
I guess this is not a simple question after all, but how do one improve after being in pretty much the same skill level for years? How to change your mentality?

I think first of all it's very normal to hit walls in your development. This goes for pretty much everything. The grind is what makes people improve versus the ones who gives up and stops.
Whenever I felt like I got stuck for a longer period of time I started playing heroes that was as far out of my comfort zone as possible. That way I learned to play a lot of heroes like Meepo / Chen / Earth Spirit etc. Just to get like a different perspective and understanding every hero better. Learning to play Meepo helped me understand how to beat Meepo better as well.
Have you played a lot of offlane before? If not, go ahead and give it a chance. Try getting good with phoenix.
Never really tried to jungle efficient as enigma? Getting that 4.20 lvl 6 every game on Dire (here's a vid I made for it) + Show Spoiler +
Try to play Teamliquid inhouses, a different style of Dota. Here to know when the next is: http://www.liquiddota.com/forum/the-tavern/453836-inhouse-dota
It's a grind for sure, play with friends and make sure you still enjoy the game. If you actually don't enjoy then why spend time playing it? Your "free time" is still time of your life. Make sure you spend it either making self improvements or having fun. If you are doing neither (as in playing Dota and hating it) then stop.

When pro players are microing naga illusions, do they actually pay attention to each lane and attempt to last hit? Or are they just afk attack moving?
|
Depends, if you're in the jungle as main Naga your illusions can be microed instead because you aren't doing much. Early on I imagine people focus on the last hitting (i.e. Dire Naga mid) but when they've got Radiance they just push all lanes out to drown farm.
Look up a replay of RTZ for more details, should be some around in one of the free2download tournaments.

They cant pay attention to last hits in 4 places at once, but they do pay attention to riptide. Try to make sure you hit as many creepwaves/creep camps/enemy heroes with it.

Somehow, I managed to dominate the runes and get almost all of it. I got a blademail after and then it was easier from there. I got first blood but he got a kill then almost killed my tier 1 after he killed me. But he had a misplay cuz he forgot to Return Chakram after I popped my blademail and he took quite a lot of damage, he tried to run by I got him with my own chakram and then I whirling death-ed him to win the Steamroller Set from our friend.
It is a pretty bland game cuz the lanes lanes pretty much a stalemate until you get level 6 and then try to get a slip. Timberchain was only useful for escaping to get under your own tower if you get dived. Most of the damage really would come from Chakram and Whirling Death.

I think you can download a replay even if you don't have the ticket to the tourney. Just go to dotabuff and look up the match ID, search that Match ID in Dota and you'd be able to get the replay. That's how I got IceIceIce's record breaking tidehunter game.

You were able to download and view replays via Match IDs, but at some point it was mentioned in some random comment on Reddit and fixed two days later. I tried reversing the mechanism the client uses to distinguish tournament replays from regular ones, but to no avail.
