Freeze a water bottle! I find that a frozen 1.5L bottle of water and a non-frozen 1.5L bottle of Pocari Sweat is a good amount of liquid to bring. Drink the water as it thaws to stay cool. You'll probably want to put the frozen bottle in a plastic bag with something absorbent on the inside so that condensation doesn't mess up the stuff you've bought if you carry it in the same bag. Use a backpack. You will literally be swimming through people, so something that is very tightly fastened to your person for carrying things is vastly preferable to carrying bags in your hands or even using a messenger bag as it can get tangled in people. Wear a hat, and bring a small towel. If you arrive close to the start time, you'll likely need to line up outside before getting in. Generally this is very organized and you'll be standing still most of the time you're waiting, but it can still be exhausting if you don't have your head/neck covered. Convenience stores sell these wimpy towels that are great for wearing around your neck to block the sun and wipe sweat. Manage your liquid intake. You really don't want to have to go to the bathroom in a convention centre when the population of Vancouver (seriously) is in it along with you. Don't get dehydrated either, though. Be aware that getting from place to place is going to take a really long time. Don't plan on hopping between the East and West halls that much, because getting between them will take a long time due to the number of people that will be doing the same thing. Bring your own food. There has been stuff like yakisoba and the like for purchase when I've been there in the past, but it's best not to have to wait. Bring something that's easy to eat in a small area (you won't get much room to yourself), and skip having to line up and deal with limited choices. Onigiri and speciality breads are filling, don't spoil easily, can be eaten while standing, and are for sale nearly everywhere, so they're really good candidates. If you're going to try to visit a specific circle's table, make sure to pick up the catalog. Many of the stores in Akihabara will sell it for ~1500 yen or something, and while it isn't necessary to get in anymore, you will probably want at least one among the group you're going with, since it includes a map and a catalog of pictures of all the circles that will be present on each day. | ||

I think many people don't realize it's a bit of an endurance test that can be made much more pleasant with adequate planning, so I thought I'd make a text post and then try to link him to it via Twitter or something. Anyways, the following are a few tips that might be useful to getting the most out of Comiket. Freeze a water bottle!
