Guess it depends on how you are playing a hero...Magic SF is pretty strong till BKBs are coming up, then falls off and getting strong again once BKBs are on the low side and/or you have the tools with arcane blink and hex to prevent the BKB-usage. Same for Zeus with his percentage based damage...an absolute monster once BKBs are down.
Would count Medusa, Void and classic Spectre as well to the ultra late game heroes which can 1vs5 with the right set-up...
Early game till minutes 15, mid game 15-40 and everything beyond minute 40 is late game for me.

I would say above 40 is a good estimate of late game since 30-45 is the normal game length.
It is so nice that the series I want to see the most in the playoffs are the morning series. Can get up at 4 and watch them before work.
I actually quite like the two parallel series as well. 4 is too much, 1 means a lot of dead time.

Well after we found out, what minute is late ... we have to look, who is still good there!? Even a few months ago I remember a team picked Templar Assassin as Pos 1. And it was quite a long game and even the casters were surprised, that TA is still an absolutely killer at 50+min! They thought it will drop off. And now... maybe we "think" that some heroes are "just for a timing" but go quite late too!
But back to topic: Wildcard the only American team making it to tomorrow! Infamous were close! They were hitting their head too much against the wall (or highground) in game 2!

topson with mid oracle in game 1 vs secret - seems to be doing well so far?

Liquid won in super late game against VP. Refresher on Void + SF makes for impossible fights.
|
That TL vs. VP game was something else.
|
T1 did not impress. Did not during the group stage either but Secret took them easily. This second game can't really be blamed on the draft.
|
Well, T1 are not out yet. But interesting things they tried...
Oh, "out": Wildcard is now gone and so is America
And I just noticed the "unusual" match-times. The lower-bracket have to play back-to-back games! Normally in those playoff-brackets this is only happening before the grand finale - which we don't have here.

Quite the series between VP and TL, unfortunately game 3 fell off.
CN Doto on the ropes, both XG and VG are only one game away of being eliminated. Chinese Doto best Doto? No way...they may have the best team with LGD, but afterwards? Still possible that six teams from WEU will be at TI...talking about most competetive region.
EDIT: T1 with the ultra mega throw against VG in Game 2. XG also forcing a game 3 against NaVi which is very intense so far.
EDIT2: XG prevails like yesterday. Terrible Game 1, better game 2 and 3. Now going against Liquid.

Holy! Liquid destroying Xtreme in game 1! 19min game!

I sure hope TL break the XG pattern :S

Holy crap...finally somebody put the nail into the coffin of XG. Very underwhelming throughout the whole LC qualifiers. Liquid bounced back from their loss against VP with two complete stomps and now facing VG. VG did not look that great as well so far.

Spec's main advantages over other carries is the ability to jump and kill a sup fairly reliably at the start of the fight and get vision. Killing a sup becomes increasingly difficult the longer the game goes though and while yes you can become very tanky due to dispersion break makes you very killable.
Spec is still a strong core in the later stages, but I'd much rather have a 6-slotted AM than a 6-slotted Spec on average.

T1 is out, good. Sad for the sea players, but topson and ana should not expect to just force their way into TI without playing the DPC.

everything that I've seen so far has been pretty on point, but I've only watched like two games so far :/ hopefully I'll have more time for the group stage onwards
hoping that both secret and liquid pull through tomorrow
|
I thought I would skip watching the second liquid series of the day. Then I saw the total match time and decided I had time for it after watching the ending of the first liquid series during the morning. (Had to leave for work after 3.5h of the first Bo3 of the day.)
The contrast between the two series for liquid was very large.

holy fuck the end of secret vs vp game 1 - just a close game overall

such a great fight from crystallis at the end, showing his top tier carry chops
