After Maybe insulted a fan on weibo, LGD has issued a fine of 50,000 RMB (approx 7,000 USD)
Official statement from LGD Gaming regarding penalty for Maybe:
Yesterday, Yao “Maybe” Lu, a player of our Dota2 division,was involved in a quarrel with a follower on Weibo and subsequently made some extremely inappropriate remarks. After this matter was brought to our attention, we immediately spoke with him seriousness of his behavior and he is now fully aware of his mistake.
On behalf of Yao “Maybe” Lu, we would like to extend our deepest apology to the DOTA2 community and everyone who is concerned about this matter. Moreover, we would like to sincerely apologize for the negligence exposed in our management.
We have imposed a 50,000 RMB fine on Maybe per regulations of our organization. We know Yao “Maybe” Lu will take this as a lesson, act more cautiously and courteously, and establish himself as a positive example for the DOTA2 community.
In addition, we will also strengthen our management and enhance the education of our players on what it means and what it takes to be a professional athlete such that this type of act does not happen again in the future.

The heckler was being a jackass, but those comments would be over the line for a random fan, let alone someone of the stature of Somnus. Seven grand and a public apology, well-handled by LGD, and hopefully he's at least considered why that was a stupid thing to say.

of course you can be as mad as you want on social media, doesn't matter who you are. It does however matter if the organizaiton, job, or whatever that pays your salary has rules that says you can't say whatever you want without being fined

This is actually pretty interesting. Word-for-word, it may seem like Maybe's being extremely racist, but if you can appreciate the nuances of the language, he is actually trying to tell the OP that Chinese should borrow a page from foreigners (of sorts). Reddit's translation and understanding of this nuance is terrible.
The context here is that Maybe is promoting AP mode for high level pubs in China, as opposed to the more popular RD mode. OP's remarks are:
"If AP is played in China, then it'll result in only 20 or so heroes in pubs. Think about the result you got in 2016 (9th-12th) with 2 TI champions (xiao8, Banana) and 2 TI runner-ups (Agressif, MMY) by picking from such a shallow hero pool. Do you think we can win TI by playing 5-6 heroes a year?"
There was no mention of Wings whatsoever so I have no idea what the Reddit translations are talking about. Maybe they saw OP mention the year 2016 and thought he meant Wings
Now comes the interesting part. Here are two versions of Maybe's reply.
Direction translation (i.e. if you plug it into Google Translate):
"Your foreign daddy also plays AP mode. But they can play 200 heroes. And you say Chinese can only play 20 heroes in AP?? Is your Mom a big white horse or is your dad a white pig?"
But what he's really trying to say was:
"Oh so foreigners can play 200 heroes with AP mode, but we Chinese can't? Come on. Are your parents foreigners?" (edit: yes, he did specifically use the words "white horse" and "white pig", but he's trying to be sarcastic more than anything)
Yes, he's certainly wrong to replace "foreigners" with racist slurs, but really, he's actually trying to tell the OP "if foreigners can have a diverse hero pool by playing AP pubs, why can't we Chinese do it?". He obviously got a little flustered by OP's remarks about his TI6 result so he began sarcastically asking the OP if he's a foreigner (and hence he somehow has a deep hero pool)
Then he gets fined $7K USD.
It's a little harsh if you understand the context IMO. But obviously context does not justify the use of racist slurs.

There's a lot of historical and cultural context there, but it was certainly used as a slur. However Maybe meant it, it didn't come out that way, why invoke family and animals in his response?

It's quite a complicated linguistic here because on one hand he did use "pig", but on another hand he's a big supporter of AP himself and feels that Chinese can do it too. He's certainly not racist if he feels that Chinese should learn from foreigners. But he did use "pig".
It's a HUGELY different story if he used such a slur directly on an opponent foreign player obviously. But in this case, if you understand the context, he's really trying to say that the Chinese can learn to play more heroes by playing AP, just like "foreigner pigs" do. It's not nearly as directly offensive.

Yeah agreed. While I sympathize with Maybe because he really didn't meant it as offensively as it may seem, he certainly did include animals and family in his response for some reason (I guess because he got mad, at a twitter troll lol).

Well, now Im confused. I thought that the proper translation is the first bolded part of your previous post and that the second one with pigs, horse etc is not correct and that he didnt say those things at all. My bad if that's not the case, I guess I misunderstood you.
In that case I can see how it can be offensive or misinterpreted. However like you say, the underlying message is that he actually compliments foreigners for having larger hero pools, albeit using derogatory words to describe them. Whatever really, I dont think too much of these things anyways and I dont think pro players should be the center of so much policing and controversy over silly pub games, or whatever they talk between them in private conversations. Just let people be. And I certainly don't think any foreigners should start calling their state or local governments and start petitioning to ban him. This is the exact same reason they asked Kuku to be banned, it was wrong then and it would be wrong now. 7k fine seems appropriate.

it's not in private. it's out there in basically his or his team's fan site and i imagine one of the main ways that fans can communicate with them. it's just bad practice and worth a punishment.
everyone's cracking down on racial or offensive slurs--more honest to do this rather than letting any double standards slide.

Stop trying to reach and make it a racial issue. The only people who truly understand the context are those who can read and understand Mandarin. Interpreting from google translate and saying it's racial is ridiculous.
Need I remind you what actually was racist was Kuku's statement and no one seemed offended by that. The majority even sided with him and tried to press Valve. Stop reaching.

Well, in my book, it is more than okay to fine 7k for spining up "foreigners vs Chinese" sarcastics.
